I really can't stand the gameplay for this (vt2009) - it is awful. The lag online is terrible and there are some major sound issues that are just plain annoying. How this game ever got past the testers - I'll never know.

Anyhoo, I'm trading it in - does top spin 3 still have an active online group - although single player is my primary reason for buying - tennis games just chill me out.

thanks

I own top spin on both xbox 360 and wii. I can gurantee you that top spin has online play with xbox and is worth buying. The only down fall with it is the amount of online players, But that could just be my timezone.

I'm not expecting millions of people playing, just as long as I manage to get a game now and again! Anyway, as long as the single player is better than vt2009 without all the horrendous bugs etc. I'll be happy.

Having now bought and spent the best part of three hours with Top Spin 3 - I can categorically say that it is much better than VT2009.

  • It is a LOT harder in career mode - in VT2009 I never lost a match. Current stats for TS3 are 14wins - 7losses.
  • You can hit both the net and the ball out - in over 200 matches in VT2009 I don't think the ball went out or hit the net once.

Ultimately, because of the difficulty level and the learning curve, this is a much more satisfying game.

The only drawback is a lack of online support - I didn't manage to find a match - but that isn't so much of a problem as I prefer my tennis games to be more of a chillout gaming session.
