Basically its probably sucking up your bandwith by doing other stuff on the comp basically disconnect your comp from your network and you should be ok if its connected to your router by a ethernet cord disconnect the cord from the computer if its hooked up wirelessly then disable the wireless device.

It could be a Trojan downloader, it could be downloading crap into your computer. If you haven't or can't remove the virus from your PC, turn off the PC when playing Xbox and see if it fixes the problem. Also, try good anti-virus trials, and remove it, if not Google the virus name and see how to manually remove it.

It's definitely doing something that's taking up a lot of bandwidth. Viruses only work on the system they were designed for, and as far as I know there are no viruses that infect the Xbox's OS (this is why you always hear about there being so few viruses that infect Macs... the install base is so small that nobody bothers making viruses for them). Even if there were, it would be nearly impossible to spread... viruses don't "cross-contaminate" from one operating system to another.

As others have said, disconnect your computer from the net or turn it off when you're playing on Live... that should solve the problem. As far as the computer, if it's badly infected you may likely need to format the drive (backing up any data you need to keep, erasing the whole hard drive, and reinstalling Windows and starting from scratch) to fix it... but before doing that or paying someone to fix it I would recommend googling a program called "Avast" and trying it out. It's a free antivirus (rather, has a renewable free trial) that's actually pretty good and I've found to be much better than antivirus programs like Norton or MacAfee. It has a "boot-time scan" that you can set to scan your system for viruses BEFORE windows starts up, thus making it able to often remove viruses you would otherwise be unable to remove because they attach to system files.

Good luck!

Both this and the message above are great responses. Go to downloads.com and download Free Avira Antivir. I believe that's the full name and it found all issues on my computer and cleaned them up lovely. Good luck

Thanks, hugely appreciate the response and got my XBL back up and running w/ the comp down. As for the computer itself I'll probably go to Best Buy or something to pick up some new software. But for XBL's all I needed :)
