You get nothing except something to brag about. Or compare your scores to friends. I love achievements. Gives you something more to play for in a gameKhimarhi
Me too, their addictive as well :P
There's no purpose to achievement points other than to make you want to play more. It's all intertwined with downloading gamer pics from MS ( blah, blah, blah )....
The bottom line is, it's a marketing scheme for gamers to spend their cash points.
Not saying it's a bad thing. On the contrary, it good business sense.
I have about 1800 points, but I really don't care about them and don't go out of my way to get them. On the other hand, any time I do -do something to get one, I have to check right away to see how many points I got and what I did to get it. Go figure.
Wish the points could be used for a incentive scheme like reach xxx points and you can use them in marketplace or something.lionheart1981oz
MS were never gonna do anything that would in the long run cost THEM money
usually what happens to me everytime i get an achievement is this 7 foot viking comes to my house and gives me a high-five, and then we draw pictures of krull. worth every second of it.ctfvyrsgurbnorn
i wondered who that guy was, now i know why he asked if i had a pen
I just bought a 360 and I was wondering if you got anything out of achievement points.hwardrocks
THe higher the number the more they play the 360 too much. I have had my 360 since launch and I only have 1166 points, half of them from PGR3.
It sorts out the people who have no lives and the people that have lives. It also sorts out the kids from the people with jobs and families.

Or you just suck and cant get any. I have a job and a family and I somehow manage to get the score I have today. And I had my 360 since last summer.I am extremly worried that people won't think I'm good at games so I rent/buy as many easy games as possible and pump up my Gamerscore to ridiculous levels thus making me feel better about myself. My gamerscore is the only thing I live for, without it I would be nothing. donnygorgas
And without you your acheivements wouldn't be anything.... awww isn't that sweet
I heard that M$ was gonna start giving rewards like 200M$ points for a certain ammount of GS in a certain time period

i agree 100%
but there are achievements that are so ridiculous to get, most of them on GOW and the most absurd is the one "seriously" in which you have to kill 10,000+ on ranked matches, really ridiculous. but there are others that i dont even sweat to get them like the ones on footie games like Fifa, PES (winning eleven) and Halo 3 still a lot of fun, i dont even know and dont wanna know the Halo 3 achievements is more fun when you get them by surprise IMO. 8)

I too have a job and a family, but playing a game on the 360 is my way to unwind. I guess I've needed to unwind quite a bit since getting the 360 in March. (see sig.) I like achievements because they give me something to work toward. I like being able to say that I earned all of my points. If nothing else, they'll tell you I got my money's worth. Another function of points not yet mentioned, they work wonders as Icebreakers if you are playing online. Check out someone's stats, maybe start a conversation about a game you're interested in, or a certain achievement.they good coz if somoene says they completed or done something u can usually suss if they have or not off they card, and is also good when ur in a multipleyer game and waiting to kick off u can size up the opasition, and see how good they are they achievements will show they expeirence in the game. gives a minor point to 100% a game, rahter than before u cud get a 100% but thats where it ended now its recorded in the pointsdjrobst
WOW you should spend more time listening in english class rather than getting achievements.
