That's a tough one. I'm determined that both are going to be horrible, but I think that Halo 3 ODST will reach a new level of medicority, so I say Modern Warfare 2.
MW2: 1 Disk
ODST: 2 Disks
Theres your answer..less is more!
Unknown_Hero3
2 disks? What could ODST possibly have that would warrent the use of 2 disks?
I admire that you gauge your expectations to not be GotY everytime a sequel appears, but aren't you being a bit pesemisitic? That's a tough one. I'm determined that both are going to be horrible, but I think that Halo 3 ODST will reach a new level of medicority, so I say Modern Warfare 2.

odst has no chance of being better.mischa_bartonUnless you dislike those games. Anyway I doubt I will purchase MW2 unless it is drastically improved. As for ODST I am getting it because my copy of Halo 3 broke and I want to try the beta whenever it comes out.

The second disc is Halo 3's multiplayer and all of the maps.So the second disc is like Halo 3 without the campaign? Will the second disc of ODST and Halo 3 be compatible (If I buy ODST will I be able to play a friend with Halo 3 online)?
mw2, I just hope they don't make the game impossible like cod4: mwAxlRoseIsMyDadWhen you said impossible you mean hard? because it is not to hard.
Probably ODST, at least Bungie is doing something different with it's campaign: Making it have open world environments which Bungie states that it will have replay value as it's non linear from what I read, go back to no health regeneration and have to find health packs, which should increase the challenge, an extra mode called Firefight that reminds me of Gears of War 2's Horde mode which will have lots of replay value and will probably be longer than MW2.
Modern Warfare 2 looks exactly like COD4, only a little better graphics wise, and if it's just like COD4, I'll wait for the price to go down, the campaign was too short(shorter than Halo 3), it wasn't as hard as the 1st 2 CODs on Veteran, and I didn't get into COD 4's multiplayer. Call of Duty hasn't been THAT great since COD 2 sadly.

Hopefully it wont be TOO long. We know it's Fall 2010, I'd expect a September release just like Halo 3 or Octoberish. Halo: ODST will tie my over nicely with the added content, the map packs, and the Halo Reach beta for a couple months.

Not everytime. I'm highly anticipating Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Fallout New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls V, Ghost Recon 4, Ace Combat 7, Command & Conquer 4, and a real next-gen Rainbow Six(Vegas doesn't count)
Yes, of course. I mean, genre defining games certainly are mediocre. I doubt I even want to hear the reason considering your avatar. That's a tough one. I'm determined that both are going to be horrible, but I think that Halo 3 ODST will reach a new level of medicority, so I say Modern Warfare 2.

Genre defining? Neither of those franchises are genre defining. And don't bring Yahtzee into this.
Anyway, it'll probably be Modern Warfare 2 considering it's an entirely new game. But I'll probably like ODST since I've hated the competitive multiplayer for the Call of Duty series ever the original Modern Warfare came around. And Fire Fight sounds awesome. I loved Gears 2's horde mode.vashkey
Don't ignore me. What on Earth would make you think that those franchises were genre defining?

Yes, they are. They've brought together alot of great gameplay ideas into one package and revolutionzed the genre.[QUOTE="Phoenix534"][QUOTE="vashkey"] Yes, of course. I mean, genre defining games certainly are mediocre. I doubt even want to hear the reason considering your avatar.vashkey

Yes, they are. They've brought together alot of great gameplay ideas into one package and revolutionzed the genre. Are we still talking about Halo and Call of Duty? CoD I could understand if we were talking about Call of Duty and United Offense, but the rest and the Halo franchise were all generic FPSs. Especially Halo and it's medicore protagonist, bland combat, and poor storyline. I did have respect for Call of Duty, until we got to the second one.

Check my last post. A better question to ask is how on earth are they mediocre? Especially compared to shooters on the market now. And don't even pull bull crap like saying that only three shooters are.[QUOTE="Phoenix534"]

Check my last post. A better question to ask is how on earth are they mediocre? Especially compared to shooters on the market now. And don't even pull bull crap like saying that only three shooters are.Let's see. Compare Call of Duty and Halo to Bioshock, Brothers in Arms, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six(pre-Vegas), Lost Planet, Dark Sector, and Prey. I will admit that Call of Duty is better than most of the garbage on the market these days, such as Vampire Rain, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and Hour of Victory. Halo, not so sure about that.

Lol. How is the combat bland? Are you really going to call Halo bad because you personally find the protagonist and story line bad? Since when did story = good game? Did you not notice that most shooters have adopted Halo's health system and online party system? Have you not noticed other developers pick up on unlockable weapons and perks that call of Duty started? I can understand if you personally don't like a game, but to call it mediocrer? Come on. If we're going to play this game I could just as easily say Half-Life 2 is bad because personally I do find the story rather boring and the combat pretty generic. What now?[QUOTE="AxlRoseIsMyDad"][QUOTE="oscar_mateo"] I completed on veteran. oscar_mateothe game is freaking hard, no matter what you say. Not so hard. Well Mile high club was hard but it is not impossible.
You sir are better than me then. There are parts in that game that make me want to punch children and small animals(not literally, but you get what im saying)

What now?The combat is the same throught the whole franchise. Each weapon is identical except for the firing speed. And the story and characters can make or break a game. the Halo health system has destroyed some FPSs and Halo's multiplayer, while fun at sometimes, can be the worst experiance. I like the unlockable weapons and level up stuff in Call of Duty, I will give you that one. And Half-Life 2, while I think it's one of the best shooters on the market, does have boring combat once you've used the Gravity Gun for about 5 minutes. And no, I'm not on of those people looking for attention by bashing popular games.
Whats your ideal as the perfect shooter? is he out there? or not yet?gow117
The perfect shooter has not and will not be made. There will always be bad qualities in a game, even Mass Effect, which is the best game I've played(go ahead and bash it to try and piss me off vashkey). I can't really describe the perfect shooter, but it's definetly not like anything released yet. Although I think that Earth No More will come closer than any other game to being perfect.
