What does your wife think about your video gaming habits?

My wife hates when i play video games which calls for drastic measures. Every time i want to buy a game it feels like i am giving an adress to the United Nations for a call to war. I even got into a cold war over buying broadband for online gaming. I have to do a list of chores before i can start playing in peace. Not only that but the HDtv I bought for my 360 has been high jacked and as i write this she is watching the Golden girls, uhghughughughg. I even played the smartest trick of all and that's getting her into XBLA games but she still concludes that she doesn't spend as much time as i do playing. How come they don't count the time they spend when they watch shows? I watch zero tv unless its the news. So tell me your experance and whats the most practical approach in dealing with this issue?

Actually quite lucky ... she was a definate no no at the start of our relationship ... but the thaw has started on the Ice Queen. Not only did she ENJOY yep thats right ENJOY Viva Pinta but when I got my Wii she even gave that a go and now enjoys her fitness tests on there!

I even managed to blag Broad Band saying it would be good for her clothes shopping LOL and last night I think we hit a new level of understanding .... not only did she sit there and mock me as I got shot all over the place on Lost Planet on LIVE but she also told me to sit down and continue playing it while she cooked me dinner ... blimey I nearly dropped my controller in ashtonishment .... but saying that she is an awful cook so not all good ... she did try though bless her!

But a gaming girlfriend would be my Nivarna ... I can't even imagine that kind of goodness!!

Well it depends, sometimes the lady digs me playing.
Atleast when I write reviews, cause she thinks I might be able to make money off it.
Lord knows thats not true, my reviews are horrible.
But she generally doesnt mind as long as I do, which is not a problem, usually.

When I'm about to play Socom: Combined Assassult online. She doesn't like it cause when I play the game so much, She says I talk about it in my sleep. Also, she told me that one day she is going to hide the game away from me lol That is the only game that she can't stand me playing cause I play it alot, I tried to get her into Halo.

When it came down to playing with her *1 on 1*, She didn't know how to move or shoot. I ran up to her and told her "This is how you walk or run and this is how you shoot" *Shoots and kills her* LMAO She stop playing after that.

My GF it's not a gamer, but she helps me when she like to watch a game, but it must be a action game, with no gore and blood... it su***

If it wasn't for my wife, I may have missed this generation of gaming.  After I got out of college, maybe a year or so later, I completely stopped gaming, maybe a PC game here or there when work allowed, but I got a good job as an engineer, and was working really long hours, and gaming just sort of faded out of my life, for close to 3 years.  Then I met my now wife, and she was a hardcore gamer, and it didn't take long before I was back into the swing of things and then some.  We now even will play co op campaigns of games together, and we have played deathmatches in some games to decide an argument we have had.  I couldn't be happier with my gaming situation and wife. 

  I do have a close friend though, he's actually a second cousin, that he was a hardcore gamer, he met this girl, she had 2 kids from another relationship, and really did not approve of him gaming at all, thought it was immature, and she also didn't like him playing shooters and horror games with a 2 and 5 year old kid around.  Which I can see, but you still have to let a person be themselves.  Anyway, they broke up over his gaming, got back together, got married, then got divorced over his gaming habits.  I'm not going to say it was the only reason, but I know it was a very big part of why.  They fought constantly over it.  My wife and I would have him over to our house to have a gaming party or something, and she would either come too and **** him out over it, or not come with him and call up on his cell and ream him out for 30 minutes, I mean it was a nightmare. 

Favourite line my girl has ever said:

"Honey, why don't you go play video games while I clean the apartment"

My wife was never into video games but plays Hexic on ocassion.  It doen't bother her at all that I play but it wasn't until I bought a Wii that she has REALLY been enjoying gaming and understanding my passion for it.  Her favorites are SMB, Wario Ware and Wii Sports.  It's pretty amazing how much she's gotten into gaming now and I'm really enjoying it.

So now my XBOX 360 is my main rig but thanks to the Wii my wife has become really engaged in my gaming life.

If it becomes a problem, all you have to do is stop playing for a while. Instead spend your nights out and come back home real late smelling like booze.

She'll complain, to which you answer "Well since I can't play videogames, I had to find another hobby."
