My wife hates when i play video games which calls for drastic measures. Every time i want to buy a game it feels like i am giving an adress to the United Nations for a call to war. I even got into a cold war over buying broadband for online gaming. I have to do a list of chores before i can start playing in peace. Not only that but the HDtv I bought for my 360 has been high jacked and as i write this she is watching the Golden girls, uhghughughughg. I even played the smartest trick of all and that's getting her into XBLA games but she still concludes that she doesn't spend as much time as i do playing. How come they don't count the time they spend when they watch shows? I watch zero tv unless its the news. So tell me your experance and whats the most practical approach in dealing with this issue?

Finally someone who understands!!!!!  You are my hero dude.  My wife is the exact same way (I even tried to get her into Uno...but didnt work either).  If I ever spend a long time playing she complains, but she has no problems sitting her butt on the couch for 2 or 3 hours watching TV.  I say to her, "Whats the difference?  I dont watch TV, I would rather play games than watch TV...In fact you probably still spend more time watching TV than I spend playing games.  The only difference is what I do is active and what you do is extreamly passive".

But its like it goes in one ear and out another.  I think the REAL issue here is that wives think its childish.  You and I both know that in reality its not childish....just because kids like games doesnt mean adults cant like them too.  But they will never see it that way.  Some of us grew up playing video games, and so its not something for us to outgrow.

I dont think its anything we can win at dude.  I usually try to limit the time I play when she is around.  I play when she takes naps, or if she is reading, or when she is not home...I get most of my play time after she goes to bed.  I put her to sleep then run to my 360 hahaha.  IF you do that enough, you will actually be able to sneak in an hour of game play here and there right in front of her...but you have to limit those severely.  Also, dont play for more than 1 hour at a time. Its all about creating an illusion that you dont play that often.

well...dude...you might just wanna regain some of that sack you lost when you got married (seriously, wiki it up, you have less testosterone than me) but yea....any time she says anything about your hobbies, point out something she does that is trully annoying, and tell her how you never point it out, just because you love her.....trust me kambion313

Thats kind of childish.  Its better to try to level with them, and if that doesnt work, then work it so it SEEMS like you arent playing as much just to avoid problems.

Thats what being married is about...not about who has a sack or not.  You can act like you have a big sack around your wife all the time, but believe me, after a while shes gonna be sleeping with your best friend cuz of your attitude.  But im sure you arent married anyways, but eventually you will figure that out.  Getting married is about give and take...if you arent down with that, dont get married.
