Some games have codes...but like Saints Row if you use one, you can't unlock the achievements anymore.

if it wasn't for cheat codes i would have hated Doom and GTA 3... I think every shooter should have at least a god mode and infinite ammo cheats so you can just mess around.

cheat codes are still in a lot of games but games are easy enough now to where people don't need them. the advent of a save feature in pretty much any game pretty much made the need for cheats trivial.

if some people don't like cheating, good for them but as long as you can't use the cheats online who cares what you do... i mean just playing a game alone gets boring after a while and if you don't have any one else to play multiplayer or it's just a single player game, what better to do then mess arround with the laws of physiscs and stuff?

Cheat codes for a game adds alot more fun factor to a game IMO. But obviously not for online, and if games like GTA didnt have cheat codes then I believe it would have worn out alot faster with some people, like Crackdown expecially, when they added Keys tot eh City mode, it opened up a whole new type of gameplay.

ya and if you liked oblivion then you know how fun it is and probably always will be then imagine if they had cheats for it, like the glitches but better and easier.

cheat codes were for games that were actually hard, now-a-days games arent that hard anymore so we dont need cheat codes as much

Yea like in oblivion the dupe glitch was not a cheat but you can pretty much consider it a cheat even though it was a hack/glitch.

if you need the codes then you are no gamer, and just a poser, step up, and actually game to get better at gaming, cheating only shows how much you lack at a game.

thats very much false, first of all, cheat codes are a part of gamer history.everyone has a hilarious memory of using a cheat code, second of all i dont use cheats personally, untill a beat the game 100 percent but just because you may not be able to get past a part in a game, and they cheat, that doesnt mean theyre not a gamer.thats like saying because i cant drive a golf ball past 250 yards,im not a golfer.it may show you lack at a game, but theres nothing wrong with that, some people have problems solving a certain part at a game,so instead of just putting the game in a corner, and never playing it again, because they get so agitated with it,they use a cheat code.

Didn't need any cheat codes for GTA, especially for San Andreas. I bet on the horse track with only 200 bucks. I ended up with a mass total of 125,000,000. I could have certainly maxed out but it took too long to bet money than it did to watch the race.

I think programmers leave them out more often these days because of more frequent online play and the fact that data is stored in one big massing. Cheat codes could occassionally corrupt data, cause glitches, and general mayham even when not intended or designed to work in such a way.

Or at least that happened a lot last gen and the one before.

All I can say is that if a cheat code scrambled my hard drive data like a Denny's Grandslam I'd be pissed.

i do beleive i covered this in my second post so do read it. and cheating to beat a game you might as well not even said you beat it. because you havent. but it does add replay value just read my second post. thanks

well,i started typing this before your sec post was posted.......so yourrr welcome i guess.it does mean you beat it,it just means you had help at a certain part.i agree on the point that if you buy a game, and go straight to cheats yes that is a little "silly" and yes,you didnt beat it but if you only use cheats or hints when you truely need them and not just as an easy way out, then again what can you do.keep playing the game and keep loosing so you just get agrivated at the game, and just waste it by setting it aside?or using a cheat to get past that really really hard moment.

Seems like no one here knows what a cheat code is. It is simply a code put in by programmers and testers to make it easier to test the game. Imagine testing GTA without invincibility...they leave them in there just so the gamers can have fun. I don't know why games don't have them recently.

the reason why cheat codes are going away is because before they used to test the games with the cheat and they just let the cheats stay. but now they are taking them away because is shorting the time people enjoy the game because people can beat it faster

Haha, those were the days. "I don't know how to turn this on" was my personal favorite. Go Shelby Cobras vs. a castle lol. And infinite saboteurs? Totally awesome.

yea i miss the good ol cheat codes from back in the day... I think Turok had some of the most useful and fun cheat codes... Disco mode anyone? lol. and all weapons, infinite ammo, and invincibility were fun too... in fact i still remember the master cheat (unlocks all codes) for Turok 2 i think. Good times.

when i was a wee one, a youngen. it was the way i conned my parents into letting me play golden eye, i told them I'd turn on Paintball Mode. O the olden times. I used to be a cheat junkie but now it kills some of the games for me. If I am to bad at games to finnish a game i just dont finnish it end of story. however codes do up the replay value or help you improve on high scores, and if someone wants to use them, I aint got a beef

most games now dont really need cheats because everyone hacks or finds glitchs. and we dont really need health cheats and stuff because alot of shooters have regenerating health. the games people would like to use cheats for have them like Sains Row and Crackdown.

What are you guys talking about, saying they died. GRAW, CoD2, Saints Row, Tony Hawk, FEAR, NFS Most wanted, Marvel, FarCry, and the list goes on all have cheats. Saints Row and Most are just unlock all "blank" cheats, but some games like graw have unlimited ammo/godmode cheats.
