We all know games like GTA 4 and R6V 2 are gonna be good but they are not innovative because we have either seen or played a game like it but every year that bioshock type game comes along and suprises the gaming world. I think both the born conspiracy and prototype are my picks. the hand to hand combat system is like nothing I have ever seen, and prototype's shape shifting abilities look pretty inventive.Bigfred19882000
I don't think GTA4 or RSV2 is gonna be good, but that's MHO. (my honest opinion)
Hands down the most innovative game is going to be APB...I am super excited about this game. You can check it out here: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/854/854140p1.html
This game looks awesome.
I would have to say Fable 2 is looking damn innovating. Army of Two is possible for the coop aspect. It looks like you can do some pretty cool things.
And I do think GTAIV will have some type of innovation. All GTA games do.
have you seen alone in the dark's tech demo!?!? THAT is innovative. it looks so good.
also, the new bourne game coming out looks fairly innovative, just by looking at it's awesome hand to hand combat it's got going for it.
and i am also excited to see GTAIV's new completely rebuilt features. i'm betting it'll be fairly innovative compared to the old GTAs on Xbox.
Hmmmm,where should i start?
1)Civilization Revoloution 2)Halo wars 3)Destroy all humans:Path of the furon 4)Fable 2 5)Lego Batman/Indiana jones (if you have to know i am a fan of all the LEGO games) 6)Star wars the force unleashed
Innovative? hmm I guess Fable 2 has some pretty innovative features. But I am never letting my friends into my game because I know the first thing they will do is murder my whole family.
But for PC I think Spore wins as most innovative hands down.

Just don't save after they do that:P
Alone in the Dark, maybe.-Montauk-
DEFINITELY
the interaction you have with your inventory is insane, instead of having an axe and wondering "why cant i just break down the **** door" you can just... well, break down the **** door.
I think it's pretty funny how many people have listed GTA IV as being a game that's going to be the most innovative of 2008. I'm going to have to side with the original poster and mentioned that GTA IV is more likely to be extremely refined rather than innovative. Same with a lot of games coming out this year. Polish and refinement aren't a bad thing, but they're not innovative.
I think something like LucasArts 'Fracture' sounds extremely innovative, in concept at least. That game could take environmental interaction into completely new territory for first person shooters. Might be worth taking a look at the previews. Whether it will actually work or not is another story but on paper the idea looks fascinating.
