The 360 has a new feature that came with the Xbox Live New Experience. You can now download a game disc onto your hard drive. I thought this was cool at first, but in order to play the game off of the hard drive you need to insert the disc. What the heck is the point of downloading the game onto your hard drive if you gotta insert the disc to play the game anyway?!

So you cant go Rent a Game Download it and then have it forever, same with sharing with Friends! :P

But i think they should make games with Serial Keys, Just like PC games, then you could do this. :)

It shortens the load time on some games, can make them run smoother, and makes the Xbox 360 sound just a little less like a jet engine.

lol did you expect them to let you pirate games based on a common serial code or just install them then not need the disc again. its to increase performance of the game and not have to use the dvd drive all game. just like a pc uses it for as well, but without the compulsory need to install it to play

I seriously think people still start these "disc to HDD" topics just to get a rise out of people. It's a shame really...

its the same way with pc games and its really the publishers fault.

games on the pc never run off the disc. there was a time long ago they did because of limited hdd space but in todays world we have massive and speedy drives.

the fact of the matter is there is no reason for the game to have to be in the drive besides the fact they want it that way. no it does not stop ppl from "stealing" games, it just creates hassle. of course there is a way around it but thats a question you might want to ask google to help you with.

yeah a game like oblivion loads like crazy and for the 360 every 50 yards you would get a "loading area" popup

i just loaded it to the hard drive a couple nights ago and it virtually eliminates this

it cuts load times from like 45 seconds to 20

so people can play games faster. it makes the loading times great. if they just let u install a game then no use for the disc then games would not sell. people would install the games then return the game for a full refund. microsoft would lose a lot of money from that.

1-reduce noise 2- more lifetime of your optical disc/ disc game 3- shorter load times BTW, DONT install GTA IV, the textures take more time to load when you are driving too fast xD

If you actually read my posting (or knew what you were talking about) you would know that you NEED THE DISC in order to play any of the games that you put on the hard drive. You might try and use some of your own common sense... bro.

Was this directed to me? We all know that the disc is still needed to play the game, that wasn't the point of your post. You were confused to WHY you still needed the disc to play the game correct? It's a question that only needs common sense to come up with the answer. I was just pointing out that you didn't need to create a topic about it.
