That's a tough choice between Mass Effect 2 and Reach, but I'm going to go with Mass Effect 2 just because I've never been drawn into a story as much as I did on Mass Effect 2.
Everything was disappointing this year, and as usual, the hyped up games were all overrated. I honestly do not think one game this year so far was amazing. There were some "not bad" games like RDR, ME2, and Reach, but none of them actually made me go "WOW, that was one of the best games I have ever played."
I haven't even played Mass Effect 2 and I know it's going to be my favourite. I didn't get many games this year that were actually launched THIS year -- focused on getting all the classics I didn't have yet (Fallout 3, Bioshock 1 and 2, Mass Effect, and others, like Modern Warfare 2, arcade games and B&K: Nuts and Bolts).
So far, Halo: Reach is my favourite game of this year - considering it's the only 2010 game I bought, there isn't much competition.
