My 360 is acting way wierd. I keep on getting this "unable to read disc" error. It has happened on multiple games, none of which have a scratch to speak of. Now, I'm thinking perhaps the laser lens somehow got dirty or something, but I really don't know. Is there a way to fix this? BTW, the 360 makes a loud noise every time before it gives the error, it sounds like the disc is being rapidly slowed down. All help is appreciated.

It is a launch system, so I doubt the warranty is still good. I'm not saying that it won't read the games at all, it just drops out to the dashboard at random points during gameplay. For the most part it works fine. The game it happens the most on is R6:Vegas, but it happens on GRAW, Oblivion, NCAA 07, PGR3 as well, so that is why I don't think it is games causing the problem.  It still works, it just has the console sniffles.

2005 models have a lifetime warranty, so you can just send it in if you want. My 360 had this problem on some games and it spread to the others after a week or so.

A lifetime warranty? When did this happen? Is it still valid if it has already been sent in for service before?

Any launch system can be turned in and repaired for free. If you call ms, give them your console serial number, they should make arrangements and send you a box to put your 360 in so it can be shipped out for repairs.

idk about that. They annoced a while ago that all 2005 systems will be fixed for free. Call them up and ask, they will check to see if your system is under warranty.

Same thing happened to me a bunch about 6 months ago.  At the time my 360 was behind glass doors.  I figured it may be overheating so I moved to where it could get more flow and i havn't had a problem since.  i don't have one of those after market fan blower thingys.  Before you send it in make sure it is getting enough cool air.

Is that separate from them extending the 90 day warranty to one year?
