Is it Microsofts decision on when the games come out? Or is it the production companys?  I thought it was always the game makers who set the release date.  And im not getting Halo 3 (I really dont like the series, Yea I know im crazy) but Im def gettting Mass Effect.

I doubt the release of Halo will have any affect on the release of ME. It certainly doesn't affect me personally. Plus I think ME is a strong enough game to not be overshadowed by Halo.

PS: Muffinskill, click on prefs in the upper right corner of the page, then the forum tab in the popup window and put your sig in the signature box. That way you won't have to paste it into your messages all the time.

publishers choose the date... which MS is both the buplisher for H3 and ME.

ME will be delayed to later this Fall.  now the reason for Bioware not sticking to a real release date after they delayed the game from June to around September makes sense.

Uh, why would they delay a highly anticipated game, because some other game that half of the people don't even want that bad gets released near the same period?

EGM is suggesting that they're going to have a preview of Mass Effect next month and that's grouped together with other games that are set to be released in the summer. So that might be an indication that ME would indeed come out around the July/August timeframe..hopefully..:)

At the same time, Halo 3's release will have nothing to do with ME in any way. They are entirely different games that don't compete with each other at all. I, for one, will be buying ME and not Halo 3. Never cared much for the Halo series..

half the people dont even want halo? lol right, thats why like millions of people tried to get into the beta, and thats only the beta. halo 3 could be the biggest selling game ever

Halo series is for the mass market, while Mass Effect is more of a RPG/Hardcore gamer type.

People who want Mass Effect, will get it regardless.  Mass Effect appeal to the casual gamer is much less than Halo, thus releasing it at the same time shouldn't have much of an effect on sales of the game regardless.

But I would say that releasing the game after Halo might help it's sales a little, so wouldn't surprise me if they did exactly that.

absolutely nothing... those who want the game regardless if they release Xbox 720, GTA 4, Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect on the same day, people that want Mass Effect will get it anyways

Well considering here's really only speculations as to when Mass Effect will be released I'm thinking we'd see it in November.

Microsoft will have no problems with a great amount of AAA titles at the same time. The more options for Xbox 360 owners or potential owners the better it is for them.

I still would have preferred to have Mass Effect over the summer more than the other big two titles later this Holiday Season (GTA IV and Halo 3). Mainly because there is nothing better than a good RPG to get into over the course of the summer.

On the Mass Effect boards - Bioware has confirmed that ME will not be released in September.  That is the only thing they have confirmed for certain.  It could be before then or it could be after then.  There is allot of speculation on their boards - but since they have stated that they will not be showing anything to do with ME at E3 either (instead focussing on 3 other titles) - rumor has it that the game may be launched much sooner than Semptember, instead of later.  Cliff one of the Bioware employees has even stated that allot of the "push back" info and some other info may have been released to build hype for the game and just to keep people wondering, when in fact the game may be closer to release than what most think.

Current speculation - and again it's not confirmed - but current speculation on the ME boards is that the game may in fact be released before E3 and that's why it's not going to be shown.  If that's the case it may be released in the next few weeks.  I know that Game Crazy yesterday did tell me that they had recieved an updated release date of June 12th within the last few days which would fit into this line of thinking.  I will however say that Game Crazy has had innacurate release dates given to them in the past.  Another interesting tid bit of info pointed out on the ME boards was that MS changed the status of the game yesterday from TBD to TBA which "looks" like an official announcment may come very soon.

Nothing is official yet and Cliff (one of the Bioware Devs on the ME board) likes to toy with the posters using "possibly" as a response to nearly every question asked.  Just keep checking the official ME boards and site as they have made it clear that any official info will be posted there first.

:)
