I play games since the era of Super Mario Bros on NES. During my gaming career, I play a lot of different games, RPG, action adventure, puzzle, text-adventure, third person, MMORPG, and blahblahblah, you name it. But one thing stands up: FPS. I simply don't like playing it because, well, I can't see the player! You see, you play Master Chief or Samus Aran, but you can't see their entire body. I play racing games and I always set the display into third person perspective. It ain't as fun as you can see Marcus Fenix rolling and ducking, shooting bad guys. Or watching Leon blasting a zombie head in one shot. All actions of swinging swords, pulling guns, or chainsawing a Locust are visible easily.

In there you can feel intensity and the environment surrounds you. But strangely I don't get that kind of experience in playing FPS. Anyone with me?

i know a lot of people that dont like FPS. if i play them too much i get sick of them. but some of them are really well made. R6V has that 3rd person perspective when u take cover so it is innovative. i cant play too many so i stick to just a few.

It makes you feel like you are the character and you are in the game, that's why it's fun. I hate third person shooters now, I can't stand watching the character moving around.

First Person is just the camera view, there are heaps of shooters that are in first person that are awesome and i find it hard to believe you can say you don't like them, mainly because there are just so many, and alot of them are very unique. you get strategic FPS, FPS with RPG elements, horror ect. And like many people have said it can make the game more emersive, try a game like STALKER, thats a FPS with some RPG elements and it has a great atmosphere, also crysis, it all looks so real it truly feels like your in a movie.

first person perspective is the closest thing to make you feel like you are the person in the game...

Here's a thought, when you play racing games, do you set the display as 3rd person perspective or you drive inside the cockpit?

Do you have the option of playing online though? I have dial-up  and single player is the only option for me at the moment :(.
