What's so great about Borderlands

Can anyone explain the appeal of playing a game where the game experienceis centered around loot-hunting? I've never played Diablo, so I'm not sure if I'm going to find this gameplay style appealing. I guess I'll find out soon enough, because this game looks pretty cool, and I think I'll probably pick it up tomorrow. I'll also probably do some research on Diablo before I buy.

Graphics look meh, millions of guns eh? Most of them are just different skins for the weapons and even if that leaves a lot.. am I even gonna use all of them? Probably not.. you probably won't encounter the same weapon twice in your entire lifetime while playing this game. What's the fun in that? Also, it looks like an animated FPS to me.. granted, it looks like one could have a lot of fun with it if they invest a lot of time into it.. but I don't even have that much time anymore due to college. I'll pass on this one.. but the rest of you should enjoy it.wwervin

Ok, but all the reviewers said the graphics are great and the kotaku reviewer said this about the variety and feel of the guns:

"in Borderlands weapon manufacturers, elemental attacks (fire, electricity, corrosion) and a long list of attributes make many guns feel surprisingly unique."

The greatest thing about it is that it's too hardcore for you. That IGN video was kind of funny.

i watch live stream for like 5 mins and didn't see anything worthwhile so i turned it off. and all i hear about the game is zom g so many weapons. ok tons of weapons don't make a came good.

i dont think the topic creator is bashing the game, i think hes asking the people who know the game better or those who are excited for the game, "why is this game so hyped?"

I agree that it has some things that dont really interest me... but at the same time its different then a lot of games... I'll probably rent it.

This game is freaking awesome. I was just playing for like 2 hrs and already up to level 7. Im really gald i got this game. I just wish i had some friends on my list that where playing it. This game should be played be everyone they did a great job with it.

I'd be nice for me to be able to play this game if it weren't sold out everywhere across Toronto already. You'd think for such an anticipated game at $39.99 (In Canada) they would have had more than 10 copies on shelves at each store... All gone within an hour of store opening. Add to the fact EB refuses to price match it, in their greedy stuborn way, their not smart enough to relaize nobody it going to buy them at 70$.

Not pleased and fairly disgusted. It's not hard retailers, SUPPLY and #$%&ing DEMAND!
