Likely not even next gen, I'm sure they'll have found some new way to charge more for movies by then.

It never will be "IN" the 360, that would force MS to pay Sony a technology licensing fee for every single Xbox 360 that rolls off the line. Plus, no current Blu Ray drive that would be remotely affordable can read information fast enough to stream data off the regular DVD game discs for 360 games, and because there are millions and millions of consoles out there already, MS cannot all of a sudden start producing Blu Ray games instead of DVD media.

It's been discussed that there may be an arrangement where MS would sell an officially licensed Blu Ray drive for the 360, but it will be external like the HD DVD drive was. That's all that will happen with it, if that even happens.

If it happens it's going to be an external one like the failed HD-DVD drive... it'll be solely intended for watching movies. I don't need something like that I already own a Blu Ray player through my laptop so there's really no reason.

Precisely. I think you are mistaken having thought that a Blu-ray drive has already been installed.
