I was looking to get a Xbox 360 when the new ones come out. I'm not sure which models are supposed to have a better build so there is a less chance of getting a RRoD. Anyone know if the new models are being shipped yet?
Well the new Jasper motherboard was widely reported to have started production as of August. So I'd say you should wait another month to be sure you're getting a Jasper unit. Just look for a power supply of 150ish watts. And look at the manufacturing date and make sure it was made in September.

The models out now are fine. I just bought one two days ago and it's far cooler and quiter than the earlier models that my friends have.
You might not see the Jasper models out until 2009. I just read that Microsoft is buying back Falcon models from stores to be used for the Holiday bundles. That means they must have a TON of Falcons.
Supposedly the new 60gb premium consoles have a motherboard called Phoenix. Well that's what xbox live customer support told me, but you never know if they really know what the hell they're talking about. I have the 60gb and it runs pretty much the same as my old 20gb 203watt console which wasn't even a falcon but did have the hdmi port. All in all just keep it well ventilated and you shouldn't experience much freeze ups or any other issues...atleast not for a while.
