I'm beginning to wonder if my internet isn't that great, or if I might be in the wrong spot. Where do you have your 360 set up, and how far away is it from your wireless router/modem?

It is hard to answer this question without blueprints of your house :P though personally I prefer a wired connection over wireless anyhow. When I used wireless it was only about 30 feet away max without any walls in the way and I had pretty good reception most of the time.

That's a difficult question to answer. I guess the obvious answer is to have your router near your console. As for my setup, my wireless router is within 2 ft. of my 360/PS3.

The wireless shouldn't have any effect unless you are a good couple of rooms/floors away from the router. generally your internal network is atleast 10x faster than external

I have my Xbox 360 in the loft, which is my room. And the router is down 2 flights of stairs on the ground floor. But my wireless connection is fine, maybe you need to get a better router?

Wired is the way to go for a system after all its not like your carrying it around with you XD

Any number of things can cause interference thus decreasing your WiFi signal. Metal items in your home (wall studs furniture doors) can reflect signals from CB or even standard radio this will decrease the performance of WiFi in locations with a lot of metal assembled. High end cordless phones (home phone not cell) of 2.0GHz or more can disrupt your signal and the microwave oven can also cause a bit of a disruption but nothing too serous so just be sure your router is not within 5-10Ft of it. Of course if your router is outputting a strong signal most of these items have little to no effect on your network.

Yea, you need a good dual band wireless n (300+300 mbps or higher), as a minimum.

Have you tried speedtest.net to see if you have a decent connection? Anyways, if you can, try using a wire instead.

I think it depends on your cable internet and the upload speeds. We have (3) 360's in our house. One in the rec room in the basement which is where our desktop PC is as well as the router and cable modem. We have one in my nephews room on the second floor and one in my boys room on the 3rd level. The boys on the 3rd level get as good a connection on theirs as I do on the one in the basement. By the way, they all run on wireless.

mine is quite a distance away, it passes through many thick objects and walls and my connection is ok for the most part, recently ive been having some real issues with it. i could get an ethernet cable long enough but itd be a problem wiring it round my house, my room is in the extension of the house so its like the worst place it could be. theres not a whole lot i can do though because of where the computer is.
