Halo 3 has more variety, more customization of gametypes, forge, theatre, and a nice community interface
But COD 4 is generally faster, has the better gunplay, more depth(but it isn't all that deep) than Halo 3 in its leveling system, and a lot of nice guns.

i agree gears is past it's sell by date is's over 2 years old now COD FTW
I know people camp in every shooter. But what he was imposing was that COD 4 was better and in the other 2 people camp. Out of Halo 3, Gears of War, and COD4, people camp the most in COD4. Don't get me wrong Yceman, I love COD4, but that's how the game mechanics are for COD.
well i would say cod 4 but u get what u like best but DO NOT GET GEARS YET! their is a updated gears of war comeing out june 24th for 39.99 it has all the maps plus alot of other extras its called Gears of War Refresh. Search it on www.n4g.com for info or www.ebgames.com o and for halo 3 this is what i would say go buy the game of the year editon of cod 4 and go to ebay and buy halo 3 is really really cheap their that is if u want but i would say cod 4. halo to me died at 2 multiplayer is good i just think it gets a little old after awhile.
Don't get gears if you value your life.. it is the most boring and tedious game ever. And the weapon selection, is pathetic. OH WOWZ THERZ A CHAINSAWZ GUNSZ, big effin whoop, it's full of glitches and rubbish servers, DON'T GET THAT OLD OUTDATED GAME IT'S ABOUT AS FUN AS PILES! Halo is a great game, great story and great multiplayer, the replay feature is extremely fun and all, full of Halo geeks "Oh look at his rank hahahaha" yeah it's annoying, but if you are looking for a gaming experience get COD 4. Great all round play, create classes, customise weapons. Ace.
gears definitely. while cod4 can be heart pumping it just doesnt have that same "awww Sh!t!!! did you just see THAT!?" factor. i got gears the day it launched and its the only game i still play online consistently
