I've got the X31's and they are great, I haven't had a problem with them yet.

I have the X3s also. Random facts:
if you're willing to spend some money, the combo of the astro mixamp + a good pair of stereo headphones ( audio technica ad900, sennheiser hd555, etc.) really cant be beat as far as console gaming. the mixamp gives you a 5.1 surround sound signal and when combined with a good pair of stereo headphones like the ones i mentioned, the outcome is amazing. plus, youll have a nice pair of music phones too. the only downside is they dont have mics attached to then, but this is easily remedied by buying a zalman clip on mic for around 10 bucks or so. its probably more than you're willing to spend, but its the best you can do as far as console gaming. i prefer my mixamp + akg-k601 setup over my surround sound system. just throwing it out there...
start out with the X1's they should get the job done. if you feel like you need to upgrade later on down the road then do that.
No. If your going to do that, get the Astro Mixamp and the Turtle Beach HPX headset which has amazing sound AND a mic. If you were going to spend that kind of money for a non competition headset, you would just buy the TB X41. But this guy is starting out, and wants value, so lets stick to that. I think the X1 is a great headset, but you could also go for the X31 for $100.My buddy went TB recert and loves his set., the old models are still great. You could get the wireless X3 for only $70 or the 5.1 surround X4 for only $129 I owned that set for almost a year its awesome.if you're willing to spend some money, the combo of the astro mixamp + a good pair of stereo headphones ( audio technica ad900, sennheiser hd555, etc.) really cant be beat as far as console gaming. the mixamp gives you a 5.1 surround sound signal and when combined with a good pair of stereo headphones like the ones i mentioned, the outcome is amazing. plus, youll have a nice pair of music phones too. the only downside is they dont have mics attached to then, but this is easily remedied by buying a zalman clip on mic for around 10 bucks or so. its probably more than you're willing to spend, but its the best you can do as far as console gaming. i prefer my mixamp + akg-k601 setup over my surround sound system. just throwing it out there...

If you are getting them ONLY for MW2, then get the X1's. Great headset and only $60 (I am sure you can find them cheaper).
Otherwise, get the x31's. For only $40 more you get a great wireless stereo headset. They are amazing for watching movies on Netflix laying back relaxing not worrying about wires all over the floor (the x1's have a long 16ft wire).

yes they have a mic but you getmuch bettersound quality with a pair of ad900's or any good pair of stereo headphonesthan you would with any of the turtle beach headsets, and the ad900s can be found for as low as 80$ on amazon. and like i said if you needed a mic you could get something like the zalman clip on which is only around 10-15 dollars. if you think the turtle beach headsets have amazing sound quality than you should really try gaming with a good pair of audiophile headphones. its really no comparison. at first i had the whole astro a40 system (mixamp and a40 headset) and while the sound quality wasnt terrible with the headset, its not even close to that of a good pair of stereo headphones, even the sennheiser hd555 was a pretty dramatic upgrade.
