I'll go ahead and admit that I haven't played New Vegas yet, but a game CRASHING on you is generally considered a bad thing. If a few minor bugs manage to sneak by developers eyes, that is no big deal. But if the developers somehow don't notice the game crashing, especially at the frequency I have heard other people talk about, that is a problem.

I'm planning on getting this game eventually, hopefully these problems get fixed before then.

I wasn't. The game corrupted a couple of my saves, caused my dog companion to completely freeze in place for the rest of the game during one quest, and two quests screwed up on me, cutting off one entire end-game path. This isn't one of the intentional end-game things, it was a quest where one person refused to acknowledge my completion of the quest and grant my reward. My map marker and quest notes told me to talk to a particular person, but they were stuck in an earlier bit of quest dialogue. It also locked up on me randomly three or four times - to be truthful I expected that more often, so in that regard I was surprised it didn't lock up as often as reviews stated.

For real! I barely had frame rate issues at all, and I only received ONE glitch out of 50+ hours of game time. I was in a gunfight, and I got stuck in vats and my character wouldn't shoot or move, thus i died and I have to restart at my previous save, which was a wopping minute and a half before I died. I didn't have any problems at all. The reviews are garbage, and most people have a blind hate for Obsidian just because they aren't Bethesda. Weak.

I think a lot of it is due to play style and the order players complete quests. I mean, I had an incredibly buggy New Vegas experience, but I still think the game itself is leagues better than Fallout 3 in terms of writing, quest design, and characters. It's just a shame it was developed so poorly.

Minor glitches are inevitable, but if a game has gone through proper beta testing, there should be approximately zero crashes.

There are a ton of glitches in the game, I'm lucky and haven't experienced many. But, yes I am surprised that, with the combined efforts of Bethesda and Obsidian, that the game runs at all.

I had this same idea, but why not get the enjoyment of it now? They will probably pull a FO3 and have all the DLC on sale for 400 points.

I have the game on pc, but yeah... about 35 hours ive played and not one crash or save issue.

The odd NPC would get stuck but nothing gamebreaking for me.

Also its wierd because I didnt liek Fallout3 all that much, but I loved Fallout New Vegas.

You've never even played it on PC, so be quiet. Anyway, I haven't played it yet. But I do hear there is a lot of glitches... So I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but I'm waiting for GOTY version.

Edit - Just thought I'd also mention that the PC version scored higher on Metacritic.

I've experienced no bugs yet and only one crash. Unlike most other people I don't run crying to the internet when a game has some glitches and bugs I just carry on playing and enjoy it. I still thik New Vegas is even better than Fallout 3.

You are lucky. : ) Honestly, I had more tech problems BY FAR with FNV than I have had with any other game, ever. I had at least 20 system crashes, multiple "getting stuck on the environments", disappearing companions and three, THREE, game breaking bugs that destroyed quests and caused me to have to return to earlier saved games, in one case having to go back 20 hours. If you think I'm the exception, check out quests on the Fallout Wiki and scroll to the bottom of the page. Each quest is riddled with reports of different and unique bugs different players encountered. The shame of it is I thought the game itself was great for a while, but the horrific bugs and crashes were just plain insulting, enough that I finished one playthrough and will never pick up the game again, nor will I ever touch any DLC or Fallout games that use this engine ever again. I have to laugh at the post above mine - right, if you buy a game that has been released at full retail price that clearly has not been quality tested to an adequate degree, and which causes so many bugs and glitches that you can barely finish the game, you have no right to complain. Bite me, tough guy.

@Xbox360Gamer15 Weren't there a few patches that were released not long after the game's release that fixed a lot of the bugs? Perhaps your patched up game isn't giving you many issues, but pre-patch, the game that was shipped was said to be very glitchy.

"Bite me"? Grow up. A game that hasn't been quality tested as you put it is a game like Big Rigs. A game that's pretty much unplayable. For me, New Vegas has been far from unplayable. It is an amazing game and I can forgive the bugs and glitches because of how much I like it. I honestly do believe that there are people out there who haven't experienced any bugs but because they want to chime along with everyone else, just repeat exactly what others have said. How is it that some people are experiencing very few if any bugs and some are experiencing 10 every second? Have they not bothered to download the patch that has already been released?

I think the issues were more with the severity of the bugs than with their frequency. I experienced a few minor annoyances, but they were really not a big deal. The big issues, however, like quests I couldn't complete or story-breaking issues where conversation options wouldn't appear, put a serious damper on things. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the game, but I don't think it's fair to say that it isn't glitchy. Keep in mind, too, that the post-patched experience is probably far different from the first week or so experience.

It's such massive game, it's not going to be perfect. But of course when everyone is expecting it to be then the forums explode with gamers complaining. If their hopes weren't so high, they wouldn't take some bugs and glitches so personally.

Nope, and you missed my point

A console game should be flawless for all of it's users because

1. All of it's hardware is the same

2. There's an easy list of software that all the consoles could have

There is no excuse for a console game to not work for some users, it's certainly not ok for a game to not work for most users like how this game was released. The patch hasn't fixed it for everyone and that's sad.

I don't care that it works for you, the fact that 200 bugs needed to be fixed says that it was broken and the fact that there's still a portion of users that can't play the game means that it's not at an acceptable level currently.

I'm glad you're comfortable with this level of quality when it comes to games but the majority is not and that's why this game is being rated the way it is and why the company is building patches left and right trying to fix all the issues, issues that should have been almost all resolved at before launch.

[QUOTE="Xbox360Gamer15"] the console game is the better gameXbox360Gamer15

Nope, and you missed my point

A console game should be flawless for all of it's users because

1. All of it's hardware is the same

2. There's an easy list of software that all the consoles could have

There is no excuse for a console game to not work for some users, it's certainly not ok for a game to not work for most users like how this game was released. The patch hasn't fixed it for everyone and that's sad.

I don't care that it works for you, the fact that 200 bugs needed to be fixed says that it was broken and the fact that there's still a portion of users that can't play the game means that it's not at an acceptable level currently.

I'm glad you're comfortable with this level of quality when it comes to games but the majority is not and that's why this game is being rated the way it is and why the company is building patches left and right trying to fix all the issues, issues that should have been almost all resolved at before launch.

big games come with big glitches

Nope, not at all

Fallout 3 never had this many glitches even if you count all it's DLC packs

That excuse doesn't fly

really? i didnt even finish it because it was so buggy and glitchy, almost everytime i fast traveled there would be people floating in mid air, a lot of the time i would do something that should have made the people start attacking me (like freeing the prisoner's from the fiend's) but i opened the gates, they started sneaking out, all with 3 fiends watching me and never lifted a finger against me. also i didnt think it was as good as fallout 3, smaller world with less to do and a lot more boring.

Big, open-world RPGs are going to have a lot of bugs at release. They always have and always will. The plus is New Vegas has been patched and will continue to get patched. Some big, open-world RPGs never get patched.

It's not a smaller world. There are 400 locations to visit, compared to Fallout 3's 160 (I think). There is also more to do: much more quests and of course gambling! Have you even played it?

yes, i have played it and yes, it is a smaller world, they just crammed more locations into a smaller area, and there might be more to do but half of it was the same crap i did in fallout 3, hell they even used the same "human in a computer" plot as fallout 3. and it had less variety, at least in fallout 3 i could go to the wasteland or downtown DC or somewhere else and it actually felt like i was in a different part of the world, in new vegas everywhere looks and feels pretty much the same

I own about 85 xbox 360 games and New Vegas is the only game that constantly crashes on me at 15 minutes play time tops (and that's happened about 25 times before I just decided the disc was a coaster). The 360 I was using it on is a brand new 250 gig one and it's the only game I've had any problems with on this system. I'm surprised at how many people really don't get that the game is very very buggy for a whole lot of people. Me personally, I've talked to about 5 friends who all have varying degrees of bugginess with the game as well. But even the least of the issues of any of my friends are random freezes.

I'll throw in that I've solved Fallout 3 and played/solved 4 expansions with a total of about 4 bugs/glitches experianced at all. All of them were the same place in one of the expansions or a messed up polygon in a monster.

New Vegas for me is honestly the worst game experiance i've ever had dating back to pong.

Not everyone has had the same experience though. I have over 12 hours on one playthrough and the only problem I've experienced is one crash. That is it. Why is it that some people consider the game garbage (which it isn't) and others are loving the game. Now I don't know if this is relevant but when I play the game I'm not connected to XBL (to save bandwidth) so maybe that has something to do with it?
