the fee for Xbox Live makes sense if you compare it to the pc:

sure, the PC games out there has free online play, but the cost of a computer that can run call of duty 4 and 5 is kinda about 600 decently. your getting out pretty well. the DLC, though, is a different story. Being a rock band player, i found myself spending about 30 dollars just for extra songs. also, I find it funny that people have to buy content for games like Call of duty 4 on xbox 360 when people on Pcs can just got get it without forking up any form of cards.

There is nothing we can do, though. we already took the bait, and now they are reeling us in. Mad about the cost of xbox live? blame the first 9000 players for even paying for halo 2 online. . .

(Oh, and no, i don't care about PS3 online, thank you)

Aslyum_Beast
Im selling my 360 just because of the charge for live, all i really do is play cod waw online now, and what i noticed going from pc to ps3 to 360, theres no difference that really sets the 360 apart to justify the cost of live.

i hate that i have to pay for my gold and gt subscriptions and they force developers to put fees on there dlc that they want to give out for free like epics games didnt want make any fees for dlc for gears and bungie was angry for the price that they had to put there ledgendery map pack and the price of every (accesories) M$ give us a break i bought a x360 just to play gta iv and other console exclusives then to find out i wanted more and every started to suck! who else doesn't like this :[

Don't be so soft, Live is less than four quid a month. And of course you have to pay for dlc! Would you want to work for free? Well neither do game dev's or dlc server providers.

We get a good deal (at least it's not PSN, my PS3 feels malnourished when it comes to online service!)

i don't have a problem paying for live but i do hate paying for game content. the PC has free mods that the 360 would have to pay for. iam2green

Live is cheap compared to ridiculous MMO fees, but DLC fees are stupidly expensive. The only DLC I've bought were Halo maps, CoD maps, and mass effect. I'll probably get the GTA stuff, and I'm debating about Knothole Island.

[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"][QUOTE="patrickhorta87"]

when you bought gears didnt you get something in the package saying you get free maps. idid

patrickhorta87

They could have been on the disk the only reason it wasnt was to fight used games

yeah so he expects to get a group of maps fro free when we paid 60 for gear new and that was our little gift for buying it new.

They released 3 new maps less than a month after Gears 2 came out for 10 dollars. That's what he was talking about and yes that is a rip off.

I need to clear up all the BS im reading on here.

develepors like Epic, Bungie and Valve actually wanted there DLC to be free but M$ forces them to charge the consumer.

Halo 1 included 20+ maps. Halo 3 shipped with a measly 11 maps witholding the rest for purchase. Halo 3 was unfinished and still made megamillions. Is it so hard for M$ to hook the fans with free maps?

Lastly, theres no way you can convice me that we should be charged for gamerpics?

Generally speaking, I don't mind the extra content that you need to pay for. Meaning that I don't mind paying for something that was not intentionally taken out of the game for the sole purpose of selling it on the side for more money. What annoys me a lot though is how we have to pay for content when PC users get that same exact content for free. I understand that it is Microsoft's choice to price it for the 360, but I just hate that. Other than that though, I don't mind paying for xbox live and some of the content on there.

Stopped paying for Live Gold a few months ago.

Whats the point when i can play titles on my PC, or yes PS3 for free online, instead of dealing with extra fees - that cost as much as a new release title here.

Never pay for what should be free content (they make a killing off what should be simple map packs, to extend the longevity of games, and boost communities).

MS are greedy; Braids creator raised this with his own Braid theme being forced to have a price tag.

Title should be "who doesn't hate M$ fees?" Of course we hate them, I can't stand them, but I needs my Xbox Live so I'll be Microsoft puppet.

It's called "business", and you're called a "consumer"... so suck it up, that's the way everything works (well, to lesser and more degrees, but everything is like this nonetheless). It really isn't that big of a deal; besides most of what Microsoft makes us pay for is well worth it. The only huge gripe I have about the whole thing is the price of some of the downloadable content; a lot of the prices are pretty ridiculous, and a lot of the content could (and should) cost a lot less. I also don't like the whole "Microsoft Points" thing much either. The ranges of points available to buy are too wide and can present issues for people who'd like to buy more or less points at a time. It's something that could easily be fixed, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Overall it's not that bad though.

You sort of have a point but all of the maps that were released for Halo 3 after launch were not completed and not even close to being completed at the time of the launch. Keep in mind development costs have skyrocketed in the years since Halo 1 came out so to expect to get the same amount of content for the cost of the game is pretty ridiculous. Again, would you work for free? DLC should be charged for on the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC. It frequently is not on the PC because the developers have a hard enough time even getting people to buy their game versus pirating it and pirating the DLC would be even easier so what's the point in charging?

I don't mind paying for the gold XBL but i do hate all the lvl and map packs that they make you pay for. It;s ridiculous. You get 100lvls in the game for $60 and then they make you pay $10 for 2 more lvls? And the map packs could easily be released in an update for free, every map pack that comes out limits what yu can do on live for that game because they make all those new things for people who have the maps only (halo 3)

Yes it costs more $$$ to make games today but so did game prices. Halo franchise made megamillions for M$ off the game and merchandise. Dont you think Microsft made enough from it to give us the "unfinished maps" for free?

I have no problem with paying for xbox LIVE or content that would extend the games length but when developers want to give us the extra content for free and Microsoft says NO... dont you see that as being a bit greedy?
