For those of you too lazy to read or click, I shall summarize. Bungie was supposed to reveal something they were working on this week. However just a few moments ago, Bungie's publisher has CHANGED THAT. They will, supposedly (it could change again of course), NOT be showing anything this week. Read it, cry for it, be angry about it too. : /

I have no idea to be honest. The letter just says "Those plans were changed by our publisher."

Hmmmm normally I'm a GFAQs user, but apparently that doesn't count toward anything here at Gamespot lol...

I know for sure it's BS, they don't do things like this last minute, it's probably a prank from Bungie. they do this many times

Yeah I can understand it possibly being a prank. I've been following Bungie for years (since '03) but I havn't seen anything like this happen to them. They don't just stop a countdown timer and put up a letter about what's goin' on lol. Anyways, here's to hoping it is just one giant prank.

Microsoft is. theres been a lot of things on this, and aparently microsft is. The reason is unsure, but its said that it's to not take away Gears of War 2's thunder, or that the guys who made GOW2 paid microsft to stop the countdown, but again, idk for sure.

That whole thing looks so hokey, I don't want to make any assumptions but I would speculate that it is just a farce and a hype engine.

if this game is halo related it better b better then halo 3's storyline...MP was alright but the story was just boring n gay but i wouldnt mind another halo game as long as its good

The publisher has been confirmed to be Microsoft. For those of you interested, it revealed in the 1up article here in an editor's note.

Whatever it is, the folks at 1up are guessing they don't want Bungie's reveal to overshadow Gears of War 2. Personally, I'd rather have new info on anything from Bungie over Gears of War 2 (I'm anticipating Gears 2 quite a bit, but c'mon, Bungie is one of my absolute faves).

Still, maybe Leipzig will have something to show.

I'll be dissapointed if the news is true, but I'm happy enough to wait.

I'd rather have Halo/Bungie related news over GOW news though. I'm really not that hyped up about GOW2 considering how boring the last one quickly became.

Here's my take on this whole situation i believe that epic games realizing that the new announcement of a halo game featuring squad mechanics could steal gears thunder and so asked microsoft to postpone the announcement. Its pretty much confirmed it is a new halo title but we are not quite sure what it is yet

It's more likely to be Marathon than Halo if you ask me. But still, I don't think Epic would ask them to postpone it. This is a perfect hype generation machine (heck, look how excited it's gotten all of us). It won't surprise me at all if they come out and say "Just kidding!"

consider your chain pulled. bungie's throwing nitrous into their hype machine. all the messages they showed on their site before this letter said things like "remain calm" "expect delays", they're just jerking everyone around trying to incite some stupidity.

Yeah. I had a momentary lapse...in thinking. Well, this is ok. If it turns out that there is actually no announcement happening I wouldn't really care. Enough amazing games have been announced. Save it for later...

If it is true, i think I know why...The announcement was scheduled after Sony's E3 conference so whatever's Sony's speculated big announcement to counter the FF13 360(Im sure square gave Sony a heads up) announcement they can counter it with the Bungie announcement but since Sony didnt really impress at their conference...MS presumably called it off, this is just speculation though.
