(b/c I love Vegas MP varieties) am i crazy? or this GOW is really not THAT good?
The best 3rd person shooter is still "Brute Force" no matter what Gamespot says... Heck, I still play it in 2007 and have completed it 20+ times and still lovin' it, but still, its gettin' dated... thats before some mutha $^*(er stole it tho lol, but I can pick it up for $10 at EB....

brute force? i remember getting a free copy of it when i bought my black xbox (that's my new name for the original xbox, i believe anytime now it will be the name ppl use for it) played it, didnt think it was amazing, but still respecting your O for picking this title
Online for gears seems to be an aquired taste. I wouldn't trade it for the world- although I would love more maps, maybe more modes (but none of that run of the mill modes like CTF) and possibly a map that invovles vehicles. Multiplayer action.. hmm.. why do I love it.. I guess its because you have to fight that much harder when you're in the match to stay in. Every kill is supremely satisfying because it involved that much work/cunning (chainsaw timing) to get it. And I like the squad based gameplay. I think the teams of 4 thing is fine if you're going to emphasise teamwork because unless you're in a clan, bigger teams don't work well - I know from Chromehounds. Only like 3 of us or so ever worked together to get stuff done and the other jerksran around trying to get kills. A team of 4 works for me. And the gamplay/type of action that GoW offers I love. Its got a frantic sense of speed while at the same time having a slow tactical, thoughtfull element or does that not make sense? XD Anyway, yeah, these are for the most part my reasons. I love the special type of action in gears a lot better compared to other games like halo, HL2, R6 but the specifics of why is hard to explain. Against HL2 and Halo its easy, its not completely twich based bunny-hopping madness. Agains't R6? Dunno why but the gameplay just didn't appeal to me in R6. /shrug These are my reasons, not sure everyone will agree
The problem with forcing team based matches is I never get a match that people actually play as a team.. Everyone is out for themselves and they're own stats.. Even people on the same team are in competition with each other.. Doesn't make for fun team based matches..
I'm with you .... just never really got gears of war ... I tried and tried to get on with it ... but for some unknown reason it just wasn't doing it for me ... to be honest it's the same with Lost Planet some people just don't get on with that game where as i love it I can't put it down much to the dissapointment of my long suffering G/F :)

Well if to date, about 10.5 million (I think) 360's have been sold, and over 3 million copies of Gears, that would mean that everyone does not, in fact have Gears. Go figure. Anyways, you realize a facelift means graphical overhaul. I hardly think GoW MP is in need of a graphical overhaul, ESPECIALLY when compared to the last gen graphics of Vegas MP (no disrespect, I love Vegas). Gameplay-wise, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but graphically? Naw...

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean a graphical overhaul. He's talking about the gamemodes and how much variety there is. I'm with him on that. How could someone think Gears needs a graphical overhaul though?
I first didn't like GoW a lot either. But when playing on harder difficulty settings I got hooked. Don't know about the MP cause I don't have XBL and I don't plan on getting it.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But he said facelift, which means an aesthetic (graphical) overhaul.
as long as your playing with the right people, then it will make the game 10x better. yes gears is a great game but i always play with my buddies online, if it weren't for my buddies the game would be pretty boring..
so maybe that's the problem, maybe you have to play with people who are FUN to play with.
gears of war is awesome online, rainbow six vegas sucks online, your saying gears is broken but rainbows is. When you start on gears everyone has the same weapons so you have a better chance but with rainbow six there are people ranked up so high with the best weapons and you have sucky weapons so you do terribly every time, you never rank up!
All people ever do in gears is run up to you using the chainsaw, or shotgun.. If tatics aren't your thing then Gears is fine.. If mindless attacking and people not playing as a team in a team based game then Gears is for you.
No one here can say that Gears Of War isn't an amazing game, but however they can say that it just doesn't hit the spot for them, especially when it comes to the multiplayer. After beating the game, it didn't last very long on my shelf because I was having 10x as much fun playing Rainbow Six Vegas & GRAW online than Gears, and therefore eventually was sold away. Gears Of War is a behemoth of a game and there are a lot of hardcore fans, but there are some of us like you and me that the game just doesn't effect in that way.
Many people are in the same boat as you man. The single player is absolutely amazing, I can't really name one major complaint about it. I happen to think the length is perfect in keeping the single player interesting throughout. The mutliplayer is a different animal. I think the main reason it doesn't appeal to alot of people who love the single player is that people don't generally play the game the way it was meant to be played. People rarely play tactical, and there are a large number who don't even use cover. They just run around and roll forward using the shotgun, like its a Halo-style shooter. The first month the game was out, everyone was learning it and playing the way the single player forces you to play, and it was absolutely amazing online. Now, its just like a slower paced Halo, but lame instead of fun...if that makes sense.
playing ranked or unranked in gears can be sort of Halo-ish cause people do try to shotgun you/chainsaw you. all that.
in clan matches you have to really play like a team and usually the opposite team actually play smart and make you think. that's the good thing about gears, it can be a tactical shooter or a "sort of" run and gun, just depends how you decide to play it.
The good thing about GeoW Mutliplayer is that it is, in fact, very friendly to new/unexperienced players. Why, you ask, they will get killed every single round. That's true, but I (and my gf who plays it once in a while) found that even if you do get killed, you don't have the impression that there isn't anything you could have done about it - like in most shooters. Most shooters, especially if they've been out for a while and there's a lot of pros on the servers, are so very frustrating to get into because oyu lose and you lose and it's a very painful task to keep yourself playing till you can somehow compete. GeoW on the other hand, though I cannot exactly say why, somehow even motivates you to go on after you've seen The Chainsaw up close. True, it's not the ultimate Online Multiplayer experience. I had more fun playing Natural Selection and Day of Defeat (HL1 mods) than any other online thingy - including Halo, GeoW and whatnot. Still: Fantastic Singleplayer and a Multiplayer that looks and plays quite nice make the game worth it's price.
I like GOW it gave me hope that developers can make good looking games. From Microsoft to Sony, they claimed this is the console HD ERA. Now, we know the XBOX 360 can push some pixels, lets see some depth in these games. Gears is good, but story and online needs more. The best is Coop Campaign on or offline. GOW should have been a launch title along with games like GRAW.

You'd have to struggle to dislike the SP. There are very few things wrong with it. MP is a matter of opinion. I personally love it, but I know you're not the only one that isn't impressed. It's technically very good, apart from a few things but if you don't like it, you don't like it. It doesn't make you a Freak, lol.

I got my 360 because of Gears, and boy was I sorely disappointed. I think it's average at best, and aside from the great graphics it's just a glorified game of hide and seek. Oh, and don't forget the part about shooting them in the head (multiple times) until they die...yeah. It's forgettable as far as I"m concerned. Possibly the most overrated game I've ever played, but hey, to each their own.

i specifically said MP needs a facelift, meaning more gamemodes, gameplay, variesties of goals..........i did not says the whole game needs a facelift....and really why would any one with a pair of eyes think this game need a graphical facelift? I have not seen anything this beautiful that "WOW" me like this since Soul Calibur on Dreamcast!!!

u make it seem like u must love it... why? so what u dont love it, theres nothing wrong wit that. theres nothing wrong wit the fact u play R6 more than Gears, R6 is a good game. why are u complaining? if u dont like Gears, its jus ur personal preference. theres no problem wit that.
