I tried to get into halo but the truth is, it is just a generic first person shooter, the story mode isn't anything revolutionary, its got guns, its got grenades, its got vehicles, its got aliens.
All of it's been done before and possibly done better, just seems every once in awhile for no reason a certain product gets alot more fans than usual, it could also be due to marketing...one of the advantages of being published by microsoft.
The only thing i get annoyed about is people claiming how amazing the story is, it's an alien vs human war....THATS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!Â
they hate it but they buy it AllSystemsRocks
HAHAHA SO TRUE! I hate FF12 and I finished it twice. LOL. Halo is the best FPS Game ever. It's gameplay and sound is the best. HL2, Doom3, FEAR, and lots of other FPS games don't have the hype as Halo. Halo is amazing in every way. Of course the graphics isnt the same as a PC FPS, but who cares. You have gameplay, sound, AI, vehicles, and lots more. And from my point, I enjoyed the storyline very much. It ending kept me excited. I don't know about others. And I read the books to understand more its story.
No, its not jealousy, people just prefer other types of shooters.Ghost_Warrior
Thats true, like myself I don't hate Halo, just more into Tactical Shooters like GRAW. However, just because I'm more into GRAW type games doesn't mean that I gotta be constantly trying to bring Halo down as I see a lot of people doing so. I can't answer his question because I don't have a clue, if you don't like the game then leave it at that & don't play it. No one can disregard that the series is massively popular, but they can stop feeling as if they gotta convince all of them (fans) otherwise just because they don't like it.
The halo series is good but for a true fps experience you need to use a keyboard and mouse
Thats why i hate Halo and consoles :)

well consoles are a far more fun experiance that you can play with friends on the comfort of your sofa.....pc are over expensive and not as good exsept fot RTS....and when shadowrun comes out i am convinced console owners will pwn.....FASA said thats what happened in the testingÂ

This guy likes PC gaming, others like myself prefer console gaming, whats it matter? Just because I would rather game on a console doesn't mean I have to hate on all computer games.your so right its just to many people bum the halo series(mostly nerds)it k but not super, ultimate, best game ever like they make out ,thats why i hate itEveryone's obsessed with it which is retarded because it's not that great of a game!!!
Haha, just kidding, it kicks ass. There's no reason to hate on Halo 1, 2, or 3 lol.

can someone explain to my why a FPS is so much better on the computer?? im not knockin it, its just that i havent played a FPS on a computer before, what makes it better than a console?icecoldkilla78
cuz its easier to control! so people feel there better at them. its like clicking on the wii link above! even your mom can do that!
Â
anyway back to the topic if you havent played a halo before this one and your into fps's halo has kind of a large learning curve. Take for instance my friend mike. He loves fps but this is his first xbox so he never played halo. he played the beta twice by himself and got pwnd! So now he claims halo suxs. people that suck @ halo also hate halo .
Â
Â
i think its jealousy, or maybe people hate because everyone else likes it, what do you all think?icecoldkilla78
because they are so jelous it pwns other gamesÂ

It's fine if you don't enjoy halo as much as many people do, but don't say that it is the same as other FPS's out there, because the fact is that many other console FPS out there is the same as halo. First of all, vehicles were never fun to drive in a console FPS until Halo came along. It was as fluid as walking, no other company accomplished that.
Sure it has guns, but did you notice that many other FPS games let you carry a ton of them at once and Halo only allows you 2? It makes you think and sacrifice and not just pick up everything you can.It added an element of strategy and thought. And unlike many FPS's, Halo's weapons (in the campaign mode) were all important. There was no single weapon that was ultimately better than the others. For instance, a plasma pistol is extremely effective against an elite, but very weak against a flood character. Or the assault rifle is extremely effective against the flood parasites but very weak against the elites. It felt very balanced.
Halo paved the way for the many FPS's that swarm the consoles today. There was no "great" console FPS (other than GoldenEye) before Halo. I believe that you're comparing all of the games today to Halo, which is unfair, because all of the companies tried to develop from the halo elements and probably have topped it after Halo. It's like if I just play Metal gear solid 2 and then go to Metal gear solid 1 and say that it's not very revolutionary since I've just played a game that's done it all before and done it better.
And to make something straight, Halo was poorly marketed. They had a few magazine ads and a sub-par commercial. No one was excited for Halo after they had seen it at E3. There was more hype for DOA3 than anything else. It was the publicity and the multiplayer that sold Halo.
the reason why people hate it cause its on xbox and before xbox 360 came out alot of people said that its stupid and worst system so that why they hated it and if it did came out on ps2 (which is never lol) alot of people would love it
then when 360 came out alot of ps2 gamers move to 360 and now they relized that they like halo.. stupid sony fans imo Â
Halo 3: Graphics (for the beta at least) lack of revolutionary new idea, just plain hating
Halo 2: Single Player Campaign, Drastic change from the original (dual wielding, more in your face gun slinger) change of more popular guns, Jealousy
Halo: Jealousy, nothing else (this game is amazing imo)
i think its jealousy, or maybe people hate because everyone else likes it, what do you all think?icecoldkilla78

Well i dont know why some people hate it but i can tell you why i do.
All the Haloboys think it was the first/best FPS ever and saying it created all the online game modes ever invented when in reality only the first one was good and the second was bad with horrible story, MP, and graphics and now after playing the beta the third is just more of the same shallow gameplay and bad story but oh well i left the series after 1 so im good.

Jeez this is exactly what I'm talking about blind Haloboys spouting that Halo paved the way for FPS games but it didn't pave the way for S*** Quake, Unreal Tournament, and Doom paved the way for FPS games not Halo which came out when like 2002 there was nothing revolutionary about Halo it was just a good game thats it period why cant it be left at that? why do all the Haloboys have to act like its the god of all FPS games and no game could ever touch it except maybe a sequel which is just a copy of the crapy Halo 2 game and doesn't add any new features or abilities to the game just a couple new weapons after 3 years of developement its over hyped, and overrated thats why i dislike it.
Imo, Halo 3 is in for a tough launch. Never before has the Halo franchise faced such stiff competition like it will in late 2007. UT 3, CoD 4 and Half Life 2 Orange are going to make it tough for Halo 3. I love the Halo franchise and still to this day play Halo 2 on XBL. However, after playing the Beta now and after the WOW factor wore off, I see that outside of some news weapons and gizmos, the gameplay hasnt changed and actually feels a little slow and plodding to me.
The bottom line is that Bungie must hit on the Single player portion this time. Because with UT 3, Half Life 2/Team Fortress 2 and CoD 4 all coming out this Fall, Bungie's little franchise has some HUGE competition for the first time!!

Before bashing, notice how i said Halo paved the way for "console FPS's" GoldenEye was the first, but after that, not many developers have accomplished that great achievment again 'till Halo. No one used that strange "console-linking" feature till its release. Do u think that all of those shooters on the xbox and 360 would exist today if it wasn't for Halo's popularity? And you are obviously one of those people who hate it just because it's so popular. Let me ask you something, why do you hate something just because people like it?
