i seriously don't understand this at all. doesnt it feel boring to play the same levels again after finishing it? ive seen ppl finishing mass effect 2 3 times (30 hour long campaign lol) and more and wanting to play even more!!! i finished mass effect 2 also and i must say that it is an AMAZING game that attacked my every feeling and emotion. it was toooooo fun. at the end i wanted to try out all the other classes. so i did new game plus and played vanguard cuz of the ownage charge move. but i just couldn't enjoy it even tho mass effect 2 was super fun. this applies to all games. i just cant enjoy it no matter how fun the game is.

I really don't know what it is about Mass Effect II, I liked it a lot more than the first one, but I so far only finished one campaign. Which is wierd because I beat the first one like nine times

I've read The Lord of the Rings more than once, and I've seen Star Wars more than once. Good books, movies, and video games I'll play through again, at least after some time has passed. I'll also play through again for achievements, but that's a completely different issue.

nothing really, it just makes me feel as though i have accomplished something and can show it off to the world (a.k.a. it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside when i hear the noise and see it say "achievment unlocked")

You don't because your not used to playing great games. You didn't come from the era were a really bad game was "RARE". It's actually to your benefit to to play a game like Mass effect 2 again. why? because you have missed something that you didn't pick up on before. I mean are you not going to watch a movie you enjoyed before?

the thing is though (about the movies, works for games too i geuss) sometimes you watch a movie or play a game again that you didn't like to see if you like it, example: when i was younger I hated edward scissorhands, it scared me so much, i watched it again when i got older and ended up buying the movie

What's the use of gaming in general? It's just a hobby. Achievements give some people an additional or alternative way of enjoying that hobby.

Maybe I'm showing my age a bit, but datinig back to the NES (when you couldn't even save your game) you played your favortie games a ton of times, and I still do today. I don't want to spend $60 on a game and only play it once. I always want to keep and replay my favorite games. Right now I am playing Fallout 3 for the 3rd time, and playing through Modern Warfare 2 for the 2nd time. Before that I played Batman AA for the 2nd time.

I have never completed any game twice,i have not got a huge interest in my gaming score and i tend to go out and buy a new game after ive finished the present one.
But saying that i did start fallout 3 again, but guess what i bought bad company 2 and am deeply happy with that, i dont intend to play the campaign twice, and willjust have fun with the MP.

Different games give different reasons to be played through again:

  • Good choices/ Evil choices change the outcome of the game
  • Achievements
  • Finding Hidden items (Ties in with Achievements most of the time)
  • Achievements
  • A sequel is coming out in the near future
  • Achievements
  • To experience the game again (After some time of not playing the game, or not remembering it, or immediately after beating it)
  • Achievements

It's the same with me even though I really like a game I can't finish it more then once. The only ones I finished 2 times were mass effect 1 and kingdomhearts(because save got corrupted before i got 100%) Owh and star fox adventures because I wanted to fight a boss again.

I just can't find myself playing through a game's campaign more than once. I already know what's going to happen and there are a ton of other games I want to play instead. The only game I can remember playing through multiple times was God of War for the PS2. Games like Assassin's Creed I enjoy playing after completing the game, by just free roaming and messing around.

Simply put, there are some games that are just plain fun.

Although the game has to be a great game since most games do not warrant multiple playthroughs. I do not sell or give away any of my games due to the fact that I may either want to play through it again or give a game another chance if I initially was not thrilled with it. GrantedI do have a ton of games that I either never got to, put little time towards, or only played through once.

Thats why games gave a little thing called "Replay vaule"

Whats the point of buying a game if you're only gonna play it once, just to trade it in for WAY LESS than what you paid?

Mostly I finish every game only once. I start out on the highest difficulty setting and after completion, it usually goes straight to eBay. I don't know, but once I know the story, the game feels "finished" for me. I really enjoyed Mass Effect 1 for example, but after one playthrough, it just felt fine to leave it with that. The only games I played through twice are some shooters I think, like Gears of War, because Insane is locked the first time and Call of Duty 3, because I didn't start out on the highest difficulty setting. Sometimes I go back for achievements when they're like a challenge (Burnout Paradise, go through a level with only a pistol in COD, etc...)

I guess it all has to do with the fact that I don't have that much time for gaming (work, friends, etc...) and there are só many games out there that I'd like to play, so when I finish a game, I give another one a shot. But the good ones, give me lasting memories... :-) (Mass Effect, Gears of War, GTA : Vice City, Dirt 1 & 2, Bioshock...)

I'm from Belgium, Europe and we don't have good rental services for games here like Gamefly. Some videostores do rent out games, but that's maximum for a week, and it usually takes me a couple of weeks to finish a game due to lack of time and the fact that I like to play several games at the same time. I usually have about 6 games at my house from which I play about 3 - 4 at the same time.

By the way, since I'm behind on lots of titles, I also buy most games on eBay for a good price. A few weeks later, I sell them again sometimes even for the same price, though usually for let's say 10$ less, depends on how much time it took me to complete. The only titles I buy new are the ones that have a multiplayer I really want to play from the start like BF BC2 or CoD:MW2 (which I don't like though compared to previous COD's) or games I really can't wait for to play (Mass Effect 2!).

In general, I like playing through a good game more than once. Much of the time I do so for completeness and for fun, or to play through a series of games again.

If I really like a game and it remains fun consistently as well as on my mind than I replay it. It isn't boring in any way at all. I've beaten quite a few of my games more than once. Some games require higher scores (Panzer Dragoon Orta for one), others are just addicting (all of the Halo games, including ODST, are games that I have played through multiple times), some are just as good the second time around (Twilight Princess), some are my favorite in the genre (Paper Mario, Diablo II), others are just too good not to go through again (Halo: Combat Evolved), and others are just great in coop for another go around of the campaign.

That isn't to say that every game I have ever enjoyed I've beaten more than once. I love Okami, The Wind Waker, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, F.E.A.R. (though I played it on both PC and 360 so maybe it shouldn't count), Half-Life 2 and it's two episodes, etc, but I've only beaten these games once. Some games are just replayable and still fun at it. Plus, it saves me $60. That's not a bad deal either. :P

i seriously don't understand this at all. doesnt it feel boring to play the same levels again after finishing it? ive seen ppl finishing mass effect 2 3 times (30 hour long campaign lol) and more and wanting to play even more!!! i finished mass effect 2 also and i must say that it is an AMAZING game that attacked my every feeling and emotion. it was toooooo fun. at the end i wanted to try out all the other classes. so i did new game plus and played vanguard cuz of the ownage charge move. but i just couldn't enjoy it even tho mass effect 2 was super fun. this applies to all games. i just cant enjoy it no matter how fun the game is.

parkour-rulz

I cant replay a game immediately. But aftera year or more, the really good games will still capture my attention.

Harder difficulties, because you have nothing else to do, it's fun, it's replayable because of how well designed the game is along with gameplay, relive the greatness in them.

I've beaten a lot of games over and over again more than once, some games are just that good.
