Just hit X to change payment options and it will go to free. If you have a CC on file it automatically defaults to that over points.
Well it wouldn't hurt to try :D.Did you really think you could put in a trial code and they'd give you a $30 game for free?

How strange it is! I always redeem a code for a month or more and I havent had any trouble downloading the free games. I would advice to apply for Microsoft support.That's just a trial for a Gold membership; it is not recognized as an actual Gold account. You'll need to purchase a subscription to get the free games.
