Did you buy the game new? If not you'll have to pay for the dlc. If you have the original code try and enter it again, see what happens
This is correct. If you bought the game brand new, then a card with a code should have been inside for you to redeem it, otherwise, you'll have to pay for it.If you bought the game new, then it should have come with a code for the first DLC. If not, you'll have to buy the DLC for 560 MS points (one of the cheaper DLCs, actually).

I did buy it new and I did enter the code, but I entered the code too early,I was supposed to get a replacement code in my email.

I did the same as you, I entered mine on the day I bought the game. I got my code emailed to me on Friday.
If you've not received the code via the email address you have for your Gamertag, then contact MS support.
I think it's ridiculous that the code that came with the game isn't the only one you use. Why did they e-mail separate codes? The Signal doesn't move the story further and On Top of that Microsoft attaches an always Online Connection to it. I will definitely not be buying the second.

Did you even play it? The Signal doesmove the story on, considering The Signal takes place afterthe end of Alan Wake Season One. It wasn't particularly fantastic, but it was pretty darn good for free DLC.
