i got into the gears online late, and there is simply too steep a learning curve. i get into a match, and i take cover behind a car or something, and the second i pop out to shoot, i get a sniper to the heador or a grenade, and then i die and go into spectator mode.

why didnt epic add any sort of skill differentiation? you would think that since the game was being developed by a great dev, with the full backing of microsoft, and knowing how well halo matchmaking works, that they would have put it in?

ah well. maybe in gears 2

gears is one of those games that takes time to get good at i understand ya, but i dont like halo but they do have good matchmaking since you play with your own level. CoD4 you can party up so you play with good people and hopefully win, but you play with people from all skill levels, vegas is the same

hey same here, i couldn't even get a shoot off w/o getting filled with bullets. but overtime i hope i can avoid dying so much XD

as for you TC, thats just how it is, you'll get better the more you play, once you learn the maps, the weapons, the little gameplay features... yeah just keep at it. as for the matchmaking, IDK.

^^^thanks for all of that. but is it wrong, sonce i pay that same price for live as you all, to expect some sort of matchmaking in every game? it should be a standard. look at halo, i jump in a lone wolves match, kill a bunch of people at MY level, get better, and then move to better players. all games should have this

I would say that Cod 4 has probably a decent matchmaking, or atleast the beta had one. What I enjoyed the most about the beta is that you could just stay with the same group of people until you were done and didn't have to find a new game after every match.

Well, Gears has horrible bullet lag, host advantage, and the ability to shoot through some walls and through some covers, so I quit when Halo came out. Halo 3 uses Bungies own matchmaking system, with ranks and whatnot, but gears does have a steep learning curve, and I would play with your friends for you to get better at it.
