i wasnt too upset about it, but i know a lot of people were and the car example is perfect. well said.

OK. I can't sit back and listen to people complain and go back and forth over this anymore. There is speculation that MS (Microsoft) will redo the Xbox 360 with an HDMI port. Yes that will deliver the best in HD quality, bringing in the image at 1080p if you have an HDTV that will handle that. That's great. What isn't great is all these people crying about how people who already have a 360 are getting ripped off. People, MS is not screwing you over. Companies are allowed to update and better their product. I've seen people say that it wont be so bad as long as MS will let you send in your current 360 and have them send you the new one. That's like saying I should be able to bring back my '06 Honda and get an '07 just because they updated their product. Yeah, it kinda sucks, but so if that's the worst thing that's going on in your life than you really shouldn't be complaining. Besides, it's not even an official upgrade yet. When MS announces that they will do this, then I'll consider trading in the 360 I have now, and just paying the difference. Honestly, I don't even have a 1080p TV. Mine tops out at 1080i, so I would probably upgrade my TV first. I'm Morgan, and that was a minute. ...Wait. I'm not Morgan. (Not too many people will get that, probably.) ritzuki
Well put... but consider this...
The people who bought a black and white television weren't talking about how they were screwed by the manufacturer, but rather how magnificent it was that their moving picture box brought the world into their home in vivid TECHNICOLOR!
Don't believe it though... the television is the Devil's Dream Box.

wellllll i dont know about the car example being perfect. The auto industry has been built around upgrading their cars every year...thats expected. Every year there is a new model....with consoles there is a new model every 5 years. Plus, with video game consoles...changing them is a little tricky. The main reason is its not kosher to have two different kinds of hardware out there running the same software. The whole point of consoles is to have a standardized machine that everyone will have in common, so everyones games should in theory run exactly the same. As soon as you start changing the hardware inside you might be opening up a can of worms. Suddenly some games work better for one version than the other. Once that starts happening you have some trouble in your hands. Adding an HDMI port is not as simple as just soldering a port onto the back of the motherboard....there are additional chips and upgrades that are needed, essentially changing the motherboard. So MS has to be careful about this.
Cars come out every year...consoles come out every 5 years or so. IF you had to buy a new console every year, you might as well pimp out your computer every 2 years and quit buying consoles. People bought the x360 thinking they wouldnt need to buy another console for the next few years...then this happens. I can understand why some people would be upset.
Personally i wont be upset as long as the HDMI version costs more than $399....I paied $399 for the premium package...but if the new and improved xbox costs that much you can bet im gonna be pissed...cuz it hasnt even been a year since i bought my console.
But then again, nothing is official....we have to wait and see what happens. My guess is that there will be three versions of the x360, with the HDMI one being the most expensive.
I love my 360 im not complaining....but adding this stuff only only a year after its release is a little disapointing. This is a huge change believe it or not....and it is unprecedented in console history. Never has there been such an upgrade only one year after release. Usually, those upgrades are left untill the NEXT generation. People pointing out black and white tvs versus color tvs, or 06 hondas versus 07 hondas arent getting the point....those upgrades in those products are actually better compared to the upgrades seen from one genration of consoles to the next. You shuoldnt feel like you have to buy TWO consoles within the SAME generation. It would be more like Honda putting out a Civic 06, then 3 months later saying "oops...we forgot to add this feature...so here we present the Honda 06 version 2!"....i can guarantee you that more than a few honda owers will be unhappy about that. Thats more like what we are looking at here. If you are gonna make analogies, you have to think it through.menduco76
I see your point, but consider this. Why would Honda release an '06 2 when it would release the '07 a few months later anyway. One year is alot easier to wait to release something than 5 is. I imagine ( I said imagine, not know. I'm no expert.) that Honda would lose money doing that when comparing the cost to add whatever, and not making the sales (on the same car, maybe with a new ipod hook-up) to back it up. If MS sees that people would prefer the PS3 because of HDMI, a disk drive, or whatever is giving Sony the edge, it would benefit MS to do everything they can to compete and get people into their product. If a have a lemonade stand, and the guy down the street has lemonade with pulp, I'm gonna put pulp in my lemonade. you don't have to agree with me. That's just how I see it.
I'm Morgan, and that was a minute. ...Wait. I'm not Morgan. (Not too many people will get that, probably.) ritzukiI got it, but unless you are a blazing hot chick who has been in Maxim, no, just no. And I agree with what you said. Its becoming increasingly more common for companies to release new version of their units all the time now. Did people gripe about the new ipods? Well, if they did they shouldn't have, you got what you paid for, now the market has advanced. Want to be safe? Don't buy anything, that way you never have something that is outdated.
first off it is possible to run 1080p w/ component cables. also what of the rumors of the new 360 shipping with HD-DVD integrated. THAT would be the main concern for current 360 owners, not some cable that most people wouldn't even be able to tell a difference with. Also, the current disk drive on the 360 wouldn't let you run 1080p anyway. that's why they made the HD-DVD attachment. so quit worrying about the cable and start worrying about the disk drive. that's what really matters.incubusoccerit's official this guy has no idea what he's talking about... 1080p would be possible with a 256mb flashdrive, it has nothing to do with the HD-DVD... Virtua Tennis will run in native 1080p, DIG IT! and they'll never make an intergrated HDDVD anytime soon(like within the next 4 years), they haven't even talked out it, it's really just HDMI port, smaller processor and bigger disk drives
