I've just read yet another thread naming MS as the greediest company among other similar comments and complaints posted by other users. Every day I see more and more references to how much of a rip off they've become. Since I've joined this forum community I have read hundreds of threads of angry gamers defaming MS. Obviously MS cannot be totally ignorant to that fact. And now that PS3 is outselling them you'd think they'd start to change their ways. My brother was once 100% loyal to the 360 up until a few months ago when he finally cracked and bought a PS3. Tonight was the first time he's turned on his xbox since and I had to force him to. Results like that are typical when you upset your customers.

I know I'm not alone on that thought and I'm not flaming or trying to start a console war but my question to you is what your reason to keep playing 360 is? If you own both consoles which one do you tend to play multi platform games on? What would you like to see MS change/do to keep the appeal?

For me, I love the 360! I like the 360 for achievements (as petty as that is). Also, most of my friends own a 360 as well and I tend to play with them only. I don't mind the prices for the consoles but videos and tv shows are a little high (and I download a lot of these).

I bought the 360 just for the amount of games I can play. I don't care about all the stuff about XBL being free or microsoft being a bad company, as long as they keep putting out the games I want I'll be happy.

Exclusives? I'm guessing that's what you mean for there still are many that are shared on both systems.

I have both systems and any game thats available on both, i still get for the 360 just because of XBox Live. Every company is out to make money. I dont see any difference between Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft in the regards of nickle and dimeing people to death. Check out this very cool article about this year for consoles. Its a good read. I find interesting how everyone likes to say the PS3 is outselling the 360 now. In the article it mentions how the PS3 outsold the 360 by 39,000 units in Jan., and 26,000 units in Feb., the only 2 months the PS3 has outsold the 360, for a total of 65,000 units, and yet the 360 outsold the PS3 by 400,000 in Dec. alone. And how between Jan. and Feb., when the Blu-Ray format was won and everyone said the PS3 will take off now, sales of the PS3 went up 4%, while the 360 went up 11%. Anyway, like i said, its an interesting read.

I got my 360 because:

It's the RPG console of this generation....and I love RPG.

The controller is a devinde gift comapired to the horrors I had to live through with the PS1 and the PS2.

It's an overall great console with great intergrated features such a streaming technology so I dont have to add music to my 360's hardrive.

It has 3 times as much exclsuives as the other consoles.

Xbox live is a great network and everybody has voice speech from the box.

P.S.

trentman7,

Great article and a great contribution here. It makes a lot more sense when these numbers are broken down.

To be fair dude the PS3's online is, by no means, bad. On the contrary, it is aactually quite good...especially for the price, and they are continually improving it. That's cool.

Anyway. I own both a PS3 and a 360. I love both. What pushed me over the edge to buying a 360, though, was Mass Effect

Microsoft greedy? I dont think so. Xbox Live is only like $4 bucks a month. Video game prices drop, unlike PS3 games. Notice that PS3 games that have been out for a long time still stay at a unreasonable price of $59.99? Xbox 360 has a lot more games. And it has a ton of accessiblity. Xbox 360's price is the best value. Powerful system that costs a bit more than the Wii but not as expensive as the PS3. Xbox 360 = huge library of games, Xbox live, accessiblity, games drop in price unlike other consoles, and it's a lot easier for developers to work with microsoft's hardware, therefore easier to make great games in an efficient manner. Not only that, but it saves production costs. It's easy to call someone greedy when they're a huge corporation. Life isnt free. Everything has a cost.

Keep huge software support, good quality of Live, and competitive prices of games and console.

Handle that, and I will stay.

I bought the 360 because of the massive and very good gaming library. Xbox live (having previously used it on xbox) is a top of the line service. Nothing compares to playing over xbox live. Most of my friends own 360s as well, over the PS3. The PS3 is just a waste to me. Any good games that come out for the PS3 I could already get on the 360, except for a select few that interest me (Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and MGS4). 3 games however is not enough to make me buy a console. I haven't had my 360 do anything horrific (no scratched games, no RROD, no explosions). It's a very fun system to play on and the fact that the controllers are all wireless and I can turn on my system from the couch and play away whenever is a plus.

I was supposed get an Xbox over the PS2, I was trading in my ps1 and 10games for the xbox. I went there, and then they had no more xbox's it was also the last day. Being 8, i quickly asked dad to get it, seeing i thought i would never get the chance for this deal (bad mistake) So we got the ps2. Then, 2 months ago we traded the ps2 for the xbox 360, and i've loved it. The multiplayer, co-op on halo 3, so much fun :)

That is almost exactly my situation. Now that I own one though I have been playing it a lot more than my PS3. They are both good in their own repsects, and to be honest I'm glad I own both, this way I don't miss out on any exclusives.

I almost always get multiplatform games on the PS3 for two reasons: I like the controller better and I hate achievements. achievements are the worst thing of this generation imo. I bought a 360 at launch and it RRoD'd twice in a year, so I sold it and waited for the elite. So far no problems out of my elite though. I got my ps3 when I sold my 360, because I had to have games like Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, etc. All the systems have games I like, therefore I own all systems. Being a fanboy is stupid because you miss out on so many great games. The only reason I've kept my 360 now is for Bioshock and Gears of War series. There isn't anything else on it that I like that the ps3 doesn't have (I despise Halo, did all last gen as well).

I was a diehard Nintendo fan right up to the gamecube, but I had a problem with the fact they were catering almost completely to kids. I found a deal with Best Buy to get a free XBOX. It changed me immediately & I have never looked back. I was then stoked about getting the 360 & it was a great decision. I have always hated the playstation 1 & 2 but decided 3 would be pretty cool so I got it too. It was ok but it didn't excite me at all & after about a month I sold it. Still hate the controller & it just didn't impress me. Looked pretty cool setting in my entertainment center though. Love Xbox Live & people can say PSN is just as good all they want but that doesn't make it true. Don't like the way Microsoft charges so much for downloadable maps etc.. & think charging at all for gamerpics & themes is rediculous. Also, I am not bashing ps3 as I think it's a cool console, I just don't care for what it has to offer.

I originally bought a 360 because it was the only console out at the time, and I loved the original Xbox. Now I'm getting tired of it. I feel like I've seen everything its games have to offer because the only games that get a lot of hype on the system are generic shooters (Halo and Call of Duty for example) and an occasional RPG (Oblivion and Mass Effect).

That is what made my buy a PS3, and I haven't looked back since I got it. I understand where your brother is coming from. I liked the PS3 more because it has free online that works really well. I'm not saying XBL is expensive, but it costs more money than free. I also found the PS3 to run faster on its dashboard setup (I think it is called XMB). The 360 always seemed mighty sluggish.

But after all that I always go back to my PC. I'd say if you are wondering why people chose a 360 if you are thinking about buying a 360 or a PS3, you should just skip both and build a gaming rig, they do everything better than the consoles. :D

... too bad they're so damn expensive :?

I'm the typical kind of gamer, i use to be a Nintendo fan in the 80's then Sony on the 90's and now since the first Xbox and now the 360 i have to go with Microsoft.

My Reasons:

1-Xbox Live

2-Xbox 360 Controller "Best Controller Ever"

3-Exclusives Halo 3, Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Too Human etc...

4-Xbox Live Arcade/ Marketplace

5-more affordable

6-and many more reasons

and i dont see a reason "yet" to invest my money on a Wii or PS3, dont care about Smash Bros or MGS4 and i dont like the graphics of Mario Kart for the Wii (its supposed to be a Next Gen console and it looks like on Gamecube).

360 FTW!

I was given my 360 to me as a birthday gift, I never chose it. I purchased a PS3 at launch because I thought it would be sick.

Right now, I wish I had waited for the MGS4 bundle b/c PS3 is absolute dog **** and is only used to play my bluray's.

If I were to buy a system right now, had I not had either, I'd get the 360, because it has games I WANT to play, and PS3 really I only want for MGS4 and FF13.

360 gets alot more use:
COD4, Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, Guitar Hero, Army of Two, Viva Pinata, (these are all games I'm currently playing and enjoying) - I did play Uncharted for PS3, but that was a one time play game, replay value just isn't there. I buy multiplats for 360 not because im MS loyal, but b/c the controller is much better for most games.

I owned an original xbox. I enjoyed halo, and the KOTOR's. Those games kept me loyal. Hell, I even bought a WII about six months ago. I played a few "great" games like zelda, and WII sports. I thought they were terrible. So I took it back to future shop after a few days. The PS3 is just like an xbox 360, without the problems that everyone else but me seem to have. And without the amazing exclusives. Point and case.

If I'm going to support a greedy company, I might as well support an American greedy company instead of a Japaneses one. Plus I had an original Xbox and still wanted to be able to play those games. Oh and when the BS3 came out, it was waaaaay to much money.

It was pretty simple really. I wanted to keep playing the latest console games and in order to do that I needed to get the latest console to play them on. The 360 was first so I bought it. It's the best console I've owned in my 26 years of gaming.

[QUOTE="MikeJones133"]for the games...nitroracer82

Exclusives? I'm guessing that's what you mean for there still are many that are shared on both systems.

For me, they are indeed exclusives. Not everyone can afford high-end gaming PCs to get the graphics and framerate of the 360 counterpart. Also the 360 ones are more stable and all that.

i chose the 360 solely for the games. i mean i really didnt like the ps2 when it first came out because they didnt have any games i wanted to play save kingdom hearts so i jumped to the original xbox and loved my experience with it even though it was short lived. so i came to the 360 because they made my kind of games.

I had owned the previous Xbox and judging by the amazing games that were due to come out on the 360. I knew I had to get it. I could say that the 360 is easily the greatest console in it's generation, and possibly the best console I have ever owned besides the Nintendo 64!
