Another recent topic got me wondering: Are there people who get a Call of Duty game and only play the campaign or only play the online? I imagine there are gamers who just play one or the other.

For the Multiplayer primarily me and a bunch of friends used to play the first one quite a few times a week together the tradition carries over to the new one

Same here. I always beat a campaign at least once before I try it against real people. Guess I could have put this in my original post.

EDIT: "Same here" to two posts up.

Only for the multiplayer but I was surprised at how much fun I am having with the campaign. I believe I will buy the next COD game for both the campaign and the multiplayer. By the way I hate spec-ops easily the dullest thing I have ever played.

Multiplayer. IMO the campaign just isn't that fun.

I bought it for the MP, but the campaign and spec ops are way better IMO. If the campaign was at least 10 hours long it would be worth playing again.

I got it for both but mainly the multiplayer because of the shortness of the Moderen Warfare games. The friend I play online with only plays the multiplayer and has never played single player. :?

I didn't and don't plan to. In my opinion, this series brings out the absolute worst in gamers online and I can't be bothered with it. Too many other games to play.

I actually got it as a X-Mas gift, I never planned on buying it before that since I've never gotten into the CoD series. Turns out the game's pretty awesome and I love both the campaign and multiplayer. My favorite game of last year after Dragon Age.

For the campaign, and also for the whole COD experience, too, with the exception of multiplayer.

I got it for both. I originally saw the campaign videos and thought it looked cool, but then I read some articles on the multiplayer and both caught my attention.

It's a shame that they are both insanely flawed, took a day of play to realise.

The campaign and spec ops aren't really flawed at all, its just over the top, ridiculous...but then you realize it is a video game after all.

For both. While the single player campaign is excellent, it doesnt warrant the price tag of a full game without its top-notch competitive multiplayer.

I always feel that I'm doing it wrong whenever I go to multiplayer first, or neglect the single player completely. :P

So yeah, I got it for both. The only exception would be Rainbow Six Vegas. I believe that I got stuck at one mission and I just gave up. So I just left it and went on to become a Captain in the multiplayer, not even knowing if I was even halfway through the SP campaign.

I got it because I had gift credit on Amazon and I also gained $20 off a future video game purchase when buying it. Definately my last Call of Duty purchase ever though as I originally wasn't even going to get MW2 as I'm growing tired of a new Call of Duty game every year. But mainly for multiplayer...

I got it mainly for the single player campaign and the SpecOps mode. I really don't do online multiplayer for a number of reasons, including the fact that I simply don't have time to get good enough to be a decent player.

MP of course. Most people I know haven't even gotten a quarter of the way thru campaign but have clocked 10 plus days in MP. (their addicts but surprisingly no good) This was literally the first game I played MP first, it was the right choice. "I play campaign to get use to the controls" was my reasoning. I've learned that MP and Campaign play and handle different so its better to get use to the MP (if your a MP guy) first since even on the most diffucult setting the AI is nothing compared to irrational humans.

You seeem to have neglected to place Spec Ops as an option to me Spec Ops was a major selling point.

I bought it for both. If anyone payed $60 to just play the campaign then I feel bad for them. It is only about 5 hours long. Vuurk

It's about ten hours if you play on Veteran. :)

Obviously both.. if I'm paying 60$ I'll use up everything in the game to its fullest. I'm not gonna lie though, MW2 is just one of those games that going into, I wasn't expecting to revisit the single player as often as I do the multiplayer, but that's natural with shooters. Doesn't mean I didn't get it to play through the single player as well.

Peer pressure.

And because I was hoping it would be everything Call of Duty 4 was, but improved, which it was but it also turned out to be terribly unbalanced.

Pretty much. My statement was a back-handed compliment to the game.

I hate the online in MW2, more specifically I hate the 12-year-old children that infest every game. An I didn't buy it, I just borrowed it from a friend; don't see the point in paying £40 for a game I can finish in one sitting on the hardest difficulty. Regardless of them negative comments the single player was really fun.

I got it with the intention of playing both modes. I wouldn't have purchased it if it hadn't come with both.
