Another recent topic got me wondering: Are there people who get a Call of Duty game and only play the campaign or only play the online? I imagine there are gamers who just play one or the other.

Only for the multiplayer but I was surprised at how much fun I am having with the campaign. I believe I will buy the next COD game for both the campaign and the multiplayer. By the way I hate spec-ops easily the dullest thing I have ever played.
I bought it for the MP, but the campaign and spec ops are way better IMO. If the campaign was at least 10 hours long it would be worth playing again.
I didn't and don't plan to. In my opinion, this series brings out the absolute worst in gamers online and I can't be bothered with it. Too many other games to play.
The campaign and spec ops aren't really flawed at all, its just over the top, ridiculous...but then you realize it is a video game after all. It's a shame that they are both insanely flawed, took a day of play to realise.

For both. While the single player campaign is excellent, it doesnt warrant the price tag of a full game without its top-notch competitive multiplayer.
I always feel that I'm doing it wrong whenever I go to multiplayer first, or neglect the single player completely. :P
So yeah, I got it for both. The only exception would be Rainbow Six Vegas. I believe that I got stuck at one mission and I just gave up. So I just left it and went on to become a Captain in the multiplayer, not even knowing if I was even halfway through the SP campaign.
I got it because I had gift credit on Amazon and I also gained $20 off a future video game purchase when buying it. Definately my last Call of Duty purchase ever though as I originally wasn't even going to get MW2 as I'm growing tired of a new Call of Duty game every year. But mainly for multiplayer...
I got it mainly for the single player campaign and the SpecOps mode. I really don't do online multiplayer for a number of reasons, including the fact that I simply don't have time to get good enough to be a decent player.
You seeem to have neglected to place Spec Ops as an option to me Spec Ops was a major selling point.
Peer pressure.
And because I was hoping it would be everything Call of Duty 4 was, but improved, which it was but it also turned out to be terribly unbalanced.

[QUOTE="Vuurk"]I bought it for both. If anyone payed $60 to just play the campaign then I feel bad for them. It is only about 5 hours long. seankane
It's about ten hours if you play on Veteran. :)
Just because its more tedious.
Pretty much. My statement was a back-handed compliment to the game.
I hate the online in MW2, more specifically I hate the 12-year-old children that infest every game. An I didn't buy it, I just borrowed it from a friend; don't see the point in paying £40 for a game I can finish in one sitting on the hardest difficulty. Regardless of them negative comments the single player was really fun.
