I really didn't find Halo 3 anything to be best selling. COD4 is better in my opinion. Halo 3 just seemed like a generic shooter with somewhat nice graphics. It's been done and the only reason it sold soo much is because it was hyped up for like 3 years.
halo 3 was overrated. They spent so much money hyping it up it's unbelievable. The only way a game would outsell it is if the developers are as desparate as Bungie was to make a few bucks.
This site is kind of cool. Yeah, for Xbox 360 only sales, I don't know if anything is going to touch Halo 3. Madden 08 only beats it if you combine 360, PS3, PS2, and Xbox sales. At least, it appears so. You have to dig to see all the numbers. Wii Sports is the unstopable juggernaut of game sales. Wodner why that is? :P Anyway, sorry to bump and old thread. I just thought this list was interesting. Can't vouch for its accuracy though. I have seen total sales for Halo 3 been marked at closer to 8 million elsewhere. Combined Madden 08 sales were marked at 10 million on that same chart. I don't remember where I saw it though. I would guess that GTA IV isn't going to outsell Halo 3 on the 360. Across all platforms though, it should eclipse it. Especially if PC release is timely this time.
GTA IV is going to set records the likes of which we've never seen before. San Andreas is still ranked highly on this site, currently 20th of 44,081, even 3.5 years after release.
