when you sent in your xbox 360 your not suppose to send in you hdd, and to answer your question i dont think so because when you save your game it goes to your hdd and not your live account.

Your saved games are gone but at least your achievements are okay cause those are all stored on the internet...assuming you have Live.

They tell you to take your hard drive off of the system. Why in the world would you send it with the console? I hardly trust them with my system and only sent it in as it was free, let alone with any of the accessories for it.

Oh great here we go again. Ok I just recovered my gamertag back in nov 07 on a brand new console with a brand new hdd and YES you will get your saved games back. Just make sure to type in exactly how your gamertag is spelled and hopefully you can remember your windows live id password cause you will need that also. Btw if you played any games offline, created save files for those games on your hdd and never signed on to xbox live anytime afterwards before your console died, then you won't be able to recover those saved games. BUT if you created a bunch of saves from different games even while offline and then signed on to live, those saves can be recovered with your gt.

Microsoft backs up every achievement and saved games you made every time you sign on to live so if something ever happened to your hdd, you can get those 2 things back on another hdd by recovering your gt. Good luck.

Are you kidding me? have you even recovered your gamertag before on a brand new hdd? maybe it's something new and wasn't like this before but you do get your saved games back unless you were never signed on to xbox live with that gamertag profile. I'm telling you I just recovered my gt 5 months ago and then continued my halo 3 and Bioshock campaigns from the exact last saves I had made on my old hdd. Not to mention all my other saved games that I had created freakin a year and a half ago showed up also.

I recovered my friends profile on my 360 because he was visiting for a while and he wanted some achievements from games I have and none of his save files were there...

No I did not do anything extra besides when I turned on my brand new console for the first time, I chose to recover my xbox live account and entered basic info like gamertag and windows live password. It started the download which took about 5 minutes and after it was done I had pretty much everything that was on my old hdd on my new one except a few demos, those were never recovered for some reason.

Don't know about recovering gt on someone elses hard drive, maybe that's different but what i'm talking about here is recovering it on a brand new hdd and i'm sorry to hear that some people never got their saves when recovering cause I sure did get mine.
