After wacthing a video interview no ign I'm leaning towards ME sellin more then gears. Anyone else agree? The 360 has a table ful of big hits this year and Mass seems like the start of the buffet.
No. Gears of War had an incredible amount of hype and promotion before it's release. It was a very simple and straightforward shooter, something which appeals to a lot of people. Mass Effect is an RPG, something that a lot of people just aren't interested in playing. Although it will probably be an awesome game, it won't sell anywhere near as many units as Gears of War did. Most games don't.
I think it's going to be better than Gears, but I don't think it will sell more. Mainly because they did a great job promoting and advertising it and I don't think they will give Mass Effect as much exposure.
Sorry for the pun but Mass Effect isnt going to have the same mass appeal as Gears. It is probably my most anticipated game right now, but I doubt it will be a mainstream hit the way Gears is. It will sell very well, but it will sell to the hardcore crowd which will limit it from the success Gears gained through hype, and wow factor (I love Gears by the way and think it deserves all of its success).
it could be the best RPG of all time and not sell as much as Gears. Gears appeals to just about anyone that wants to pick up a controller and shoot things.
Better game but wont sell as much because of advertisement. I rather have this problem then an over hyped game that doesn’t meet the hype. All MS has to do is stand behind this game and get on the grind. Once bioware releases a date i want to see ads everywhere. Commercials on Bet, Abc, Nbc, Espn, food network, c-span (1 and 2), Pop ups, text messages, voice mails, phone calls, banners across the sky, faxes I want it everywhere.

Agreed. Also Mass Effect does not have a chainsaw and grenade stick, those seem to be two things that really appeal to the younger crowd.
