I heard that they would do monthly free games, in order to compete with Sony and PS+, does anyone know?

And when switching over to XBL, will all your arcade games and other stuff transfer as well?

They're currently doing a thing called Games With Gold (I think that's what it's called) for the Xbox 360. They've been releasing two games each month and they're going to continue to do so up until the release of the Xbox One.

I haven't anything about them releasing free games for the Xbox One, but it's a possibility. As for whether your games will transfer, I'm not sure. If I remember correctly, they said that it wouldn't be backwards-compatible but that may not include arcade games.

I'm pretty sure they said no free games for Xbox One. Also keep in mind that xbox live arcade games are not backward compatible so you still need your 360 in order to play the ones you own.

That aside, the Games for Gold was supposed to end on December, but they announced... last month? that it was going to be kept active until they decided to do it no more, so yay if you have xbox live and a 360, more free games!

@magicalclick: It is a hardware restriction, nothing to do with DRM.

It will be for the 360 only for a while, we might get it on XB1 if they decide to keep it going for another year or so.
