I got a 360 for Christmas and am looking forward to getting a subscription to Xbox Live, but before I shell out the money for a network adapter I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the service operates on a satellite wireless internet connection. I don't want to spend the money if I can't use the service

I'd skip it if you only have satellite, lag is going to drive you bananas

I mean you'll be able to download everything like demos and extra content for games but satellite's response rates even with the best service wont serve you well.

Not sure how well satellite internet work (since we dont have those in my country) but why dont you try connecting your 360 (wired) to your modem and use one of the trials to see how it works?

The best way to find out is by trying it out. And I would certainly do this if I were you. Connect your xbox to a nearby tv by the modem, and try to grab a 48-hour gold pass from somewhere( they are common with new releasese now), and run through a couple games and matches.

Yea, so actually, even if you could game, it wouldnt be fun. But I mean, you can try it out with a month card, just for the heck of it. Plus, then you could get updates

I'll try connecting directly into the modem to see if that works then. If I can't play online but can download extra content and demos, that will be fine. I had a PS3 and it would not connect to the satellite internet at all so that's why I was wondering if Live would work
