can this be fixed in the parental settings, or not at all?

You would assume that they would have been smart enough to think of a way to fix that problem, but I guess it must not be very hard to get a job there.

Me too. 

I'm not allowed since I have a "child account". I find it kinda funny because I can use this child account to access Windows Live Messenger on the computer but not the Xbox 360. They need to fix this I think.

I've had this problem ever since I signed up with XBL using my 360, Xbox had better features (No Advanced Parental Crap; Group Voice-Chatting; Not much bricking).

Same problem with me, I'm 18 this year and i'm still going to have these stupid family settings. I would have thought they would be clever enough to put an option in family settings to let people under 18 use msn.. Obviously not

So there's no way around this?

Which is why I encourage EVERYONE on this thread to bombard Microsoft with your emails, phone calls and whatever else you want to do (politely of course) until they make a work-around for this.

I'm sure if enough people call tomorrow and voice their opinions, they'll probably do something about it.

If i get my hands on an xbox live official!!!! I mean isn't it just simply a matter of just keeping track of a gamer's age just as his gamer score is memorised? I'm sure they feel very dumb right now!!! I'm an 360 fan but this is unacceptable, it's madness...no seriously! I get home after a 3h30 french semestrial exam thinkin WLM ON MY FRIGGIN XBOX!!! But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

child accounts are allowed to voice chat ,but not text chat?

I see PLENTY of people having this problem (similarly to myself), and it's horrible. I thought I should just post, and let MS know how many people they're actually affecting by this bug (or more specifically, lack of programming technique).

Still, I like the update. I wasn't planning on making MSN a huge part of my Xbox 360 - though it would be nice.

Jiizes...i got the same message, so i thought : What if i change my age on hotmail.com ?

So i changed it from 92, to 85. Which is 22 years old..did it help ? No ! F*** ! Why ? Do i need some kind of special hotmail account too? 

This sucks.. Oh, and another thing i want to complain about. I entered my 48 hour trial, and choosed to redem. They said i would

have to sign out and in again, for the changes to take effect..did that work ? Nope, still silver. F*** ms! 

The 360 is only about a year old, but xbox live is not.
