Basically you play games that has Achievements and those score will be added to your total gamer score. They are different games, you can't play Shadow Complex on WP7 obviously. The closest visual quality compare to X360 and WP7 are IloMilo and Puzzle Quest. And you can modify your Avatar, send XBL Text Message, see your XBL friend, on your WP7. Also, you can use it as X360 remote.magicalclick

Basically what he said, you can access your friends list, profile, achievements, friends achievements, etc.. send messages, edit your avatar, use it as a controller to navigate 360 dashboard, hulu plus, netflix, all of that stuff.

and if I'm watching a video on netflix, hulu plus, or zune I can pull up the xbox companion app and it will show me the cast, related movies, what other movies the cast has been in, a synopsis, etc. Pretty cool feature if you've ever been watching a movie and wondered, "What movie do I know him from?"

I've had 3 different blackberry's, an iPhone for 2 1/2 years, a HTC EVO (Android), and an HTC Arrive (WP7). So far I like my WP7 way more than any previous device I've had. The UI is incredible, I love the live tiles, and it's definitely the most stable OS out of all of them. Have not had one force close or one error message. They were also few and far between on the iPhone but Android is riddled with them.

The app store has climbed from less than 1,000 to over 40,000 in less than a year and several hundred get added daily with most of the big apps already tailor made to take advantage of the unique OS.

Most the games look and control like crap and are all over priced. You can send text messages to your friend list and see what they are playing.. I haven't tried it but couldn't you just do that on another phone through xbox.com? You can change your avatar (pointless) and then there's the companion app. Also it's extremely stupid how you can't use Microsoft points to buy anything but avatar items.

We've obviously had different experiences as far as the games go. All of the "Xbox Live" games I have control great. Yes, you could. But can't you also check email by going to gmail.com, hotmail.com, qwest.com, etc.. What's the point of a unified e-mail inbox with auto updates to your phone? Convenience, of course. That's a silly complaint. If we were to race (you going through Xbox.com) it wouldn't even take me 1/4 of the time it'd take you to go to the webpage, log in and then navigate to where you want to go.

I was also disappointed you couldn't use your Microsoft Points.

I also agree most of the games are over-priced, same as all of the mobile platforms. That's why I just wait till a game I want is Deal of the Week. (ilomilo, Monopoly, Rocket Riot, etc..)

Sonic 4, Earth Worm Jim, any of the Game Room games, Katamari, Super Monkey Ball, Assassins Creed etc have controls so bad they are pretty much unplayable. Any of the games that have a version on another service costs more and when they have such bad controls what's the point? Like those Game Room games are $3 and you couldn't play them well if you wanted to and then Sonic was what $7? Also they did eventually fix it but when it launched the thing didn't even have an official messenger. The deal of the week is glitchy as hell at least here. It will say the deal of the week is a game that it's actually not and won't update the actual deal till days after. Their billing is messed up also, Assassins Creed was 3$ so figured would see if the controls get any better and buy it then they billed me $7 and their customer service is terrible.

I love my WP7 (Samsung Focus). The game selection isn't as good as Android or iPhone, but some good exclusives. Just like XBL, every game has a free trial and some free games (with achievements) offered by MS. As for controls, it works just like any other touchscreen phone...the virtual analog stick is always crap imo, but others like PvZ or Blob2 are great.

I know you're being sarcastic but its nothing but a vote of no confidence if MS won't put on of their bigger casual Xbox IPs on their own phone line but will on their main rival. That's not good for WP7 as far as Xbox Live features go. They literally opted for a non-Windows Phone platform.

I understand your mindset, but I don't exactly agree.

While it is disappointing that they let ANY exclusives go to iOS when they should (in my opinion) be holding on greedily to every one they have, even if the only one so far has been Kinectimals. I understand the logic that the majority of first WP7 sales are going to come from Xbox gamers, and what better way to try to convert gamers and generate interest in an Xbox exclusive than to release an Xbox game on a competitors mobile system with the majority of the marketshare.

The Xbox Companion app has also been released to iOS, but it is very limited compared to the WP7 app, you can not use it as a remote, or to quicklaunch a game/app.

That's how I see it anyways, if they start getting rid of all of the Xbox exclusives then might be the time to panic but honestly I don't really see them abandoning the WP7 platform since they've been generating a lot of interest and most analysts put them in the #2 markestshare spot by 2013 or 2014. More people just need to try the platform to see the WP OS gives iOS and Android a run for its money in many ways.

EDIT: I'm not sure if I read your comment right, but Kinectimals has been on Windows Phone for a long time already.

I typed it wrong, yea its on both There isn't much else to debate. They release games on their competitiors platforms. If they released Kinectimals on the PS3 using the PS Eye people would go nuts. I could understand the DS or 3DS, since MS has let rare make DS games and let their IPs have DS versions, but thats because they didn't have a handheld game console. Now that WP7 is out, and they're actually releasing first party content on rival platforms, it boggles my mind. Sure, it doesn't spell doom for the WP7 platform as a whole if you're not interested at all in the Xbox Live features, but it pretty much kills the purpose of having a WP7 for Xbox Live. I mean, Rocket Riot can only do so much.
