Ok, here is my problem, My computer is in the basement of my 3 story house, it is a pretty big house, but the walls are not very thick and you can hear everything, and my 360 is up upstairs in my bedroom. I have a 50ft ethernet cable but I dont want to drill any holes and i cant just have it nailed on the corner of the walls going up because I have many doors in my house and they need to be shut every once and a while.

So my question is will a new official microsoft wireless adapter for the xbox 360 work from my xbox down 2 stories?HERE IS A PICTURE OF A HOUSE THAT MIGHT REPRESENT MINE - think of the xbox in the top right window cut out, and the router in the bottom right where it is cut out. link -http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i207/modernlover62/ALBUM%202/ALBUM%203/ALBUM%205/3-22.jpg

IF THAT DOESNT WORK THEN try this 1 THE ROUTER IS IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT WHERE THE METAL BARRELS ARE, AND THE XBOX IS ANYWHERE ON THE 3RD FLOOR BUT WITH WALLS...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

It should be fine as long as you don't have any microwaves, any cordless phones and anything else that would interfere with the signal and and a shed load of patience for setting the damn thing up and can put up with its little knacks and quirks that make you soon wonder... "why didn't I just use my cable?" and why oh why would you put a computer in the basement...sounds somewhat creepy.

I have wireless in my house and I had my router downstairs until recently and when it was downstairs my connection was not the greatest because sometimes it was great and everything worked fine, but sometimes when I played online it looked like a slide show. Plus, if you have cordless phones its not going to help matters any with the router being far away from your xbox. My suggestion is to either move your xbox closer to the router, or put your router closer to your xbox because its not going to be any fun playing online if your signal strength and connection arent good. Also, try changing the channel on the router once you get it set up because it will most likely help improve your signal.

You might have a fair amount of interference. Your best bet is use a cable, no one notices a nice tidy job with cables. You can do what I did... okay my brother did, did out the wall for all the cable and then, when you run it through, patch it back up again and it's like it doesn't exist.

There is too much interference with the wireless adapter. Anything interferes with it, a microwave, cell phones, wireless anything. It is a terrible product, don't waste your money on it.

Wire it to the outside of your house. The casing of the cable should protect it from rain etc.

Wireless is brilliant for browsing.... but a curse for online gaming. I think it's because it's always active and downloading...and uploading and..... caching....and I've pretty much used all my internet terminology...

I would also recommend a wired connection. Any little thing near the 2.4GHz frequency will mess with the connection, especially those cordless phones and the microwave (when it's in us) Surely, there must be some way for you to get the ethernet cord to the 360.
