Looks like MS did a huge sweep of people who have modded consoles... From alot of what people are saying they are even banning some who simply played gears early (how true that part actually is... is anyones guess). This is pretty great, kick those bottom feeders out of our community!

Now I don't claim to be innocent of all things, I would never complain about getting banned for pirated content on something like live. It is a matter of time these ppl get caught so if you are doing something wrong just be glad you got away with it as long as you did. It is not like you didn't see it coming.

Yes, yes they should.

Umm why? I personally don't scan the internets every day memorizing the release dates of every game. You're saying if I walked into a store and saw a game on the shelf that I wanted and played it I should be banned because the store wasn't *supposed* to have put it out yet? So by your logic everyone should check the rease dates of every single game before going into a store if you think you might buy a game while you're there... just in case? I'm sorry, but that's just ignorant.

If you got it from a sotre early, then you should take up your banning with the store manager, because its not MS fault they broke release date and you picked it up. Hence, they SHOULD be banned for playing early.

as others are saying, those who pirate games and play them on xbox live at any point are very very stupid.

buy the games you want to play online, kids, and don't play early.

Umm it's not my fault if they put it out early either. I totally undertstand banning people for playing pirated games... but there's no reason I should have to memorize every release date of every game just to be sure that I'm not buying the game early. If I see a game in a store and I want it I'll buy it. I'm not going to run home and look up the release date before I buy it.

Using a word like "hence" doesn't make your argument any more valid. You are saying that it's the store manager's fault that the game was put out early "hence" the consumer should be banned? No.

now here's a good question for you.

WHY should they get the same treatment the people stealing the game receive? yeah they got the game early, but guess what..they paid for it.

Stupidest reply I have heard in a long time. You should take up your banning with the manager? Microsoft should take it up with the manager. Not the customer who spent his money.

I worked at Blockbuster for years and we were always allowed to rent games the day we received them, prior to the street date. I no longer work there, but if that policy is still in place, employees are going to rent games early and play them, not knowing this will be their fate.

No, that would be retarded.

Banning legit, paying, customers is quite possibly the worst idea ever. Hopefully MS does not have their head that far up their own ass.

Ban the pirates, and the modders. Who the hell really cares if little johnny got to buy and play Gears 2 three days before anyone else?

seriously. i don't care if someone got gears a week before me. i still get to paly the game in the end don't I? i care when companies have to shut down production on IPs i like because their losing to much money, or when someone can kill me instantly because they've hacked a game. hell, if they get gears early, thats the distributors fault, and microsoft can't ban people based on the fact that they had the unfortune to buy the game too early.

It is very possible to ban people playing weeks or even days before the street date. And if you have a 'valid' complaint of it being on a store shelf then you could talk to MS about the store... you wouldn't be the only person in the area playing online if that is the case... There are ways to track this down... Of course, why bother with that at all, just ban'em. They will pay $50 to come back... no loss, just more profit. And it seems like a valid attack that the rest of the community wouldn't even worry about...

I would say ban them. That way you can get the steath modders and if you bought it at a valid store just send them a scan of the reciept which shows the purchase date. That way everyone wins. the modders get banned, the store gets in trouble, and the valid gamer gets unbanned.
