hi i have been a pc gamer for years and i'm thinking of converting to xbox 360 to play with my friends.  Is it really worth the money and company of friends to play instead of a pc?? could someone let me know.  Thanks.

Not really. If you don't like the games on it it's pointless to get the machine in my opinion. I personally think the X360 has the best games coming for it by miles. That's why I got one. The online community is just a plus. It works great though.

I think so, yes.  I just bought an Elite, but I've had a 360 since shortly after launch. I used to be a hardcore PC gamer, I was into the whole PC structure of things, but the 360 has taken the single best step from PC gaming for me.  This gen, you have some solid strategy games coming, and even some MMOs, and always the great shooters, and even some solid RPGs, last gen most of those genres were really thin on consoles, especially on xbox, but this time it's all good.

I didn't know if I would want to leave the PC behind for online gaming, but I have found that Live is setup so well, that it's much faster to get a game going, and it's even easier to communicate with your friends and keep everything organized, better than most PC options in this regard.  You pick up the controller, put on the headset, and a few button presses and you can be talking and playing with whatever game and whoever you want, it's really pretty damned awesome.  And there is more and more communication and interactivity between the PC and 360 all the time, you can now use some of the same peripherals, and online gaming between the two is getting more and more momentum coming down the line, so I would definately advise if you have the cash, it's worth the investment.

My PC is only used for WoW and some RTS games nowadays (I might pick up Stalker though looks good) .  Achievements have really brought me back to console gaming.  If the games interest you then get a 360 but to get it to have another way to hang with friends is a bit of a waste IMO.

I bought mine so I could play with my friends on XBL, so while 360 is really not as good as PC you will have fun with your buds anyway. Co-op is a blast.

Definately worth it. I think that the online community is great, some of the current games are really good, and when Halo 3 releases it is going to tbe mad!

To me, the PC still has an advantage for RTS games, but that is about it.
