Wouldnt 360 be so much better if the Achievements points could be used to buy from the live arcade or anything you could buy with the points the you have to buy.

I know a lot of us are trying to unlock every achievement we can for the eye candy. But can you imagine  all the casual gamers trying to unlock every achievement they can. I bet games wold be blowing off the shelves.

I really dont think its that much to ask for getting 1000 points for working you ass off on a $59.99 game.

Any other thoughts?

Forgive the possable repost.

You realize other people like to get paid for their hard work as well. So as a game maker what benefit would it be of me to give you something because you sat on your butt and played a game?

It would be really cool, but lets say; you had to get ALL the ach in order to get your 1000 points. Hey we still pay for XBL-GOLD right?

There is the problem right there. No one is making you work your ass off playing a game. In fact, it should be the polar opposite. Developers make games so that you can enjoy them, have fun with them, not work your ass off for Achievements. Now I'm not totally against the idea, but your logic seems a bit silly. We as consumers made the decision to buy the game, so why should developers feel obliged to award us  even further? I don't think car manufacturers give out free tires everytime someone clocks 100K miles on their F-150?

The hard truth is that nothing in life is free.  I could see maybe if they charged an extra ten bucks a year for it.  You could either pay the 50 a year for regular live, or you could pay 60 a year for free stuff after you earn achievment points that way they could get some money from you for "earning" the free stuff.

I thinking it would just be cool if they had it set up the way some Arcades do you know play the games get points that earn you tickets so you can trade them in for prizes.

and saying you getting something for free is just crazy you paid for a $59.99 game.

But when i do think about it if they were making games the you could buy with achievements points. i can see them taking a hell of a lot less initiative on making new games for the live arcade

I could see if microsoft did a promotion, buy 4 arcade games get one free.  But giving you something because you "earned" it by playing it all the time sounds stupid.  Sure it sounds good to someone that plays the game, but from a business stand point its a terrible idea.  Who would pay for the game you get for free?  The company that made the 360 game, microsoft, or the arcade maker game?

I think the biggest hurdle would be that you could be playing a game made by, say, Activision, and then buying a game from an indie developer using the points you earned from the Activision game. Where's the profit for the indie from that? They get screwed.

I don't think it'll happen in a 1:1 ratio. maybe for every 1000 pts. you could get 100 MS points or something.

Here's the deal though. Game companies make a LOT more money if we hold on to our games longer because then there are fewer used games for people to buy and they will buy new games instead. Game companies have a HUGE incentive to keep the games in our hands longer and out of Gamestop's hands. Some kind of incentive, like if you get 500 gamerscore on a game you get 100 MS points or something like that would be good for everyone. For a dollar basically the game company keeps us playing their game for weeks longer, etc. It almost certainly won't happen, but that'd be the reasoning behind it if it did.

Well, the points would be coming from MS or the original publisher, then going to the indie developer when you buy the game. I don't see how that isn't a benefit for the arcade game developer.
