Like the people said above me, this is a great deal for a great game. It's not just DLC. I'm really excited for this too.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Bungie got excited with ODST and added alot into the campaign, they even said, if you have checked the interviews that the campaign might take somewhere between 8 hours or more if you decide to explore New Mombasa and kill everything. This mode also features co-op, both off and online. Then theres Firefight, halo version of horde which also features co-op. All the halo3 maps+3 new ones and its respective mp As bonus-Reach beta, forge, film feature. Someone please correct this post if its missing something.
Well, that sounds like a great deal to me.
I don't like Halo at all.. but even I know that this game will be worth the full $60 because it features its own 10 hour campaign with all the content that Halo 3 had on the disc, so quit complaining aand wait till the price drops,(the price will drop a month or two after release to $50 or so) also this might be the Halo game that brings non-Halo fans over to the darkside lol, because you are no longer playing as 7'0 foot tall super-human but just a regular marine, it sounds pretty cool to me, even though I hate Halo lol.:P

Heh, okay, a couple things...
Full price for retail yes, this is pretty much DLC.
ODST is not pretty much DLC, that's unfounded. It's a complete story following a whole new set of characters. It's including a whole new multiplayer mode that would hav ebeen DLC by itself. It's adding all of the previous DLC which were released alone for roughly 10 dollars each, that's what 3 map packs right there? So that's 30 for those, a new mode would have been 10-15 so we'll low ball it and say we're at 40 now. 3 new maps for mulitplayer, another 10, so 50 dollars. The original multiplayer which you would have had to pay 60 for new, but used we'll call it 25, 75 dollars, PLUS a campaign which if it were dlc would be no less than 20. So for 60 dollars, you're getting 95 dollars worth of content. Please people, Bungie has said over and over again that they originally intended it as an expansion but then through the development it took on it's own life. The content justifies the price. This is not in any way "Just DLC" and even if it were, it's enough DLC to cost more than they're askingODST is the biggest rip off in gaming history. u get a 2 hr campaign n the same halo 3 multiplayer. for 60 bucks. how cool is that?
Where did you get your solid facts that the campaign was 2 hours? Because I believe Bungie said that since they expanded it, the campaign was going to be comparable to Halo 3's campaign. So when the campaign is 8-10 hours and it's got the Halo 3 multiplayer, plus all of the extras that people paid for and new extras that no one had seen, it doesn't justify the price?ODST is the biggest rip off in gaming history. u get a 2 hr campaign n the same halo 3 multiplayer. for 60 bucks. how cool is that?

Nah, the biggest ripoff in gaming history was probably the $150 Amazon Edition of Fallout 3 that came with the crappy clock.
[QUOTE="PsiCrisis"]
Yep, because they know you and everyone else who likes Halo is still going to buy it.
me_rock
Exactly. It could be $100 and Halo fanboys would still gladly buy it.
You mean like how the COD fanboys are going to gladly pay $150 for this??its a full fledged game now. AND it comes with an expansion. its like they made a whole nother halo game instead of JUsT the expansion.
Youll have to wait like 2 years@TC: Be smart and not like the Halo fanboys, buy it when it drop in price.
archvile_78
So what the only people that are buying it right away are fanboys? That's pretty funny and you can just look for sales and get it cheaper.@TC: Be smart and not like the Halo fanboys, buy it when it drop in price.

No offence, but that's not saying much. The Halo 3 campaign was pretty pathetic, especially with the previous games in mind. @ "plus all of the extras that people paid for" : aren't you mad at that? You paid that much money for those maps and now you can get them for free. That would make me pretty upset if I'd bought them, to say the least. Yeah you got to use them quite a bit before ODST, but was it worth it? I imagine buying , per se, a flash drive at a store for around $30. Go in the store a few weeks later, and there's your flash drive packaged with a game for $40.It just seems like they're rubbing it in the peoples face that bought the maps, like they're saying, "Heh, if only you waited a LITTLE longer...". I think ODST should have came with a discount card for the maps, like a coupon. OR, made ODST a $40-$50 game and then have a special version that came with the Halo 3 maps and sell that one for $60. This way everyone would be happy :D !
lies . microsoft all lies , first they said all first party games would still cost 49,99
then in 2007 they began charging 60 for every titles they made since forza2 ,
also they claim -we fixed the problems with the 360 mean while a report comes back and stilll the number is over 50 percent , of the first 360 to break down , ,is it me or is ms only interist is money not the consumer,
halo odst is a expansion those sayin full game your wrong
Thats how products work. They drop in price. It's pretty strange that people seem to still have not figured this out. I mean, does none of you remember how the Halo 2 maps and the Gears of War maps eventually went free? Or you know, how games themselves drop in price? When ever you buy a game and the price drops months later do you complain about that? And just like with the game, if you don't think it's worth it at sixty dollars just wait for a price cut and stop whining.
And I really don't see how Halo 3's campaign was pathetic. Especially comparing to other shooters on the market.
You're also getting the new multiplayer Fire Fight mode, so please stop pretending that ODST only includes a campaign. Please try to stay well informed of what you're complaining about.

Maybe I used a bad word, lol. It was just really short comparing it to the other Halo games. I do agree that other games are shorter, and it SUCKS (look at, I think, my first postin this forum, complained about short games) All games are getting shorter and shorter. People argueand say, "well at least the graphics weregood" or something stupid like that. I'd ratherhave a longgame than agame withgame with really good graphics, I think a lot ofgamers would, butthat's just my opinion :) .

Even though it was poking fun at my comment, I must say that was well put. I admit I was off,HOWEVER, I also must say that I wasn't supposed to be exact at all, and I also knew that someone was eventually going to comment on this. This was just an example with smaller numbers. The price in the example is $40, not $60, and I'm sure the price of the flash drive in the example isn't near the cost of all the maps. It was just a small, petty, example. In no way was it supposed to be exact. Even though the example was off, I'm sure that the example's purpose was/is doing its job, and that's all that matters to me.

i think it makes your statement completely invalid, the whole argument was based on the fact that you would have preferred to wait if you knew that the maps come with ODST. There is a bit of a difference between waiting a few weeks and waiting a few months. Somehow you feel hard done by because Bungie didnt tell u that 5 months to 2 and a 1/2 years down the track they will release a game with all the maps included[QUOTE="Oozyrat"][QUOTE="chaoscougar1"] LOL a few weeks? the heroic map pack was released in december 2007, legendary was realeased in april 2008 and mythic was released in April 2009 so the shortest time period u have there is 5 months, so unless you count a few as 20, u are a little offchaoscougar1

forget about the example :P im saying that i dont see how anyone can feel that bungie has wronged them because they didnt tell the users who bought that maps that in 6 months, 1.5 years, 2.5 years that these maps would all come in one pack, yeh its cheaper, but its all relative. Its like going in to buy a brand new TV and the coming back in the same store 6 months later and being shocked the TV isnt the same price, its ludacricyPlease Log In to post.
