The newer 360's are less likely to get the RROD. You just have to make sure you get a newer model. Use google to see how to do that!

The new versions of the 360 are less likely to get teh RRoD, but if it does happen anytime within the first YEAR of purchase. You're automatically covered by microsoft, every electronic product by default gets a one year manufacture garuntee. Or well, that's how it works in the UK.

Okay so One year. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it three when it comes to RROD and that? Again correct me if I'm wrong.

No, that period ended last year, you only get one year now. Also, if you get the RRoD, you'll automatically get another years garuntee when you recieve that console back.

Haha you'll be fine man i bought mine last year in october and theres been no problems, i was really paranoid it would RROD so i just asked heaps of questions on the matter. If you want to prolong life remember to install your games on to the hard drive, and just keep dust away pretty much so vacuum the floors i guess.I remember i was even lifting it by raising it from the corners and always turning it off by the power but now i don't do that i know its going to stay reliable. As long as your keeping it space to breath and installing your games you'll be all good man.

That would only work if you're buying an Elite, pretty hard to install games when you're buying the Arcade version. ;)

To the original poster ; To be honest, if everyone worried about getting the RRoD, then the 360 wouldn't be the second most popular console this gen. Suck it up, spend the money, and enjoy your 360. I'm sure you'll be fine :)

Don't worry, if you do get RROD you have a 3 year warranty. Just buy it and see if you like it....it's quite a goos system with some nice games.

Take out a warranty, that's what I did. Only had 1 problem with my Xbox so far, got RROD but that was a year and a half back, and it's been fine since.

Some good games for multiplayer are CoD4, CoD WaW, GoW2 and Halo 3

I haven't had any problems with my newer model, the older one is a different story though.
