well they did increase their warranty and put out reimbursements so that was a step in the right direction for sure!nailz832 year warranty in my country for all electronic purchases. However when I buy something I'd like it to actually last many years which all my stuff has, so I'm hoping the 360 will too but it just keeps popping up in my head when I start gaming. It's really annoying. I never think about that stuff when I fire up my PC, TV, PS2 (4 years old) or stereo ... So if you are lucky, your 360 won't be showing the three red rings but it's always something you think about and it's not very relaxing.

Unfortunately I am not lucky as I got the red lights on monday. The one thing I dont want is someone else's console. I paid for MY console, I expect MY console to get fixed and sent back to me. I dont know why that bugs me so much, but it does.

From what I've heard you can end up with a brand new console or a used one that has been fixed. And I agree - It's either returning your console from repairs or get a new one. If I got a used console after I sent mine to get repaired, I would send it right back. You pay for a product and if it doesn't work you should get a new one, not some old scratchy yellow'ish used one.I do believe that's bull. I think the rate is much higher than that.BounceDK
lol! i believe it too...
thats why i bought a PS3... atleast I can have confidence in playing it for long periods of time without it **** itself... Lift your game microsoft! I hope mine lasts until after I've played Halo 3!
I haven't had to send mine back yet (had it since March 06), but sometimes it doesn't start up properly and it has disc read errors sometimes. Same old Microsoft...
They really NEED to work on the reliability of their consoles for the next (future) gen. The originally Xbox had a lousy DVD drive and it's gone downhill form there.
The Xbox 360 is the best gaming console to date. PERIOD. Live with it. Cry about your PS3 being nothing but a cheap Blu-Ray player some where else - because it's definetaly not a good game console. So 30% or not, get a warranty on it like the insurance you have on your car and quit crying about it... wah wah wah

Well that was mature & well thought-out.
But as far as sending your console in for repairs, MS makes every effort to repair your console & send it back to you. If they cannot fix yours for any reason, you will get someone else's refurbished console. But no one is getting brand new consoles, that's not happening.
Your analogy is retarded. Car insurance is for accidents or theft. They dont cover manufacture defects...The Xbox 360 is the best gaming console to date. PERIOD. Live with it. Thus far, they seem to be saying that these failures don't have the same roots, which is ridiculous because it is quite clear that overheating is the major issue. Refurbished consoles are getting an extra heatsink, Elites were shipped with solid-state capacitors, and the GPU is soon to be 65nm. MS knows what the problem is, and they are only making themselves look bad by not admitting it because everyone else knows it as well. And more, we know that THEY know, because they are scurrying to cover it all up and save face.ricothehatThere is a set of issues. Overheating is one, as is the bad PSU, then there is the disk drive issues and something that we probably havent even heard of. They got along way to go.
i heard that the "official" fail rate was 40%, but i'm sure it at least 60 i mean c'mon if you ask the majority of people on here they will all say they are on there 2nd 3rd or 4th 360 and i by the 5th they just give up and throw it out their windowwii60_lukatoll
You know whats funny? The fact that when mine first broke down and I made a topic on here, everyone was calling my a troll and to go back to the sony forums and that I don't know how to take care of my system. Now people are FINALLY realizing that the 360 is a POS with awesome games and amazing online service. I'm on my 3rd one and two of my friends are on their 2nd one. I am hoping that M$ is going to make another version of the 360 (like the elite, but that it actually will last the consumer many years) by the end of this year.
