In the near future i am hopefully going to be buying a new monitor with a VGA input so i can put my 360 on it, i have found this cable on play.com although it does not have the required cables for sound. Does anyone know where i can buy the extra sound cables or have an all in one pack where the sound cables come in with the vga.

Thanks in advance.

you can get a composite (red, white) to audio jack at RadioShack for under $5. then use a double female audio jack to go to a head set or pc speaker system. I don't think vga ever comes in with the sound. That is more what HDMI is good for but it your xbox is older you are out of luck on HDMI. http://www.cablewholesale.com/prodimages/stereo-2f-m-y.jpg

the official xbox VGA cable comes with an adapter to plug the red and white into. Then you can plug it into speakers or something. I have mine plugged into the audio input on my creative computer speakers. so i think you should be fine.

Edit: I should have looked at the link before posting, thats the same thing that comes with the VGA cables. And I'm pretty sure the F/F adapter you were looking at is mainly to make audio cables longer.

I didn't buy mine from here but this is the one I own and use. I'm pretty sure it is the same as in your link. Here is it from the Xbox site. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ and from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1276811094&sr=8-1 if you look through the pictures on amazon it shows the audio adapter I'm talking about.

The simple answer is: if you are going to plug the audio into a stereo or speakers with red /white audio in then you will be fine with the ones you posted. IF you have to get it plugged into pc speakers or something that takes an audio jack then you need the things I posted. And lastly: if you used HDMI to the monitor, most of those monitors have a audio jack out that you can plug pc speakers right in. I hope that makes sense!

He doesn't need to buy anything extra if he is using PC speakers or if the monitor has an audio jack. The VGA cable from Microsoft comes with it.

Why not just buy a small HDTV? I know people who use 42"+ HDTVs as their computer monitors.

That is also i question i would like answering, when playing RDR it goes off the screen and cuts off like half of the HUD in bottom left and in top right on pause menu it cuts off half the clock. Its nothing to do with the TV settings as that is on auto.

I actually play on a 19" monitor. You can go to the display setting on the Xbox and set it to 1440x900 but it does leave about half an inch on the top and bottom black. but nothing is cut off from playing, just that inch of your monitor not being used.

I am not sure if I am going the wrong way with this, but I want to know, if I have a computer monitor from the year...say 2005, that only has a wire that can connect to a pc (with the big blue mouth that connects to the pc slot), can I connect that to the xbox 360? My t.v recently died, and I want to use up every electronic device I have before I get a new one, since they are piling up in my home.

Are you saying the MS cable comes with a way to hook it up to a male audio 1/4 inch jack (looks like the metal end of the headphones you use with mp3 players)? New to me. I bought third party one that only had the optical and red/white cables.

Yeah the VGA cable from Microsoft comes with the jack. And to Eternal-Entity, if that blue plug is the same one as on my monitor then it would work, but you would need the VGA cable and something for the audio.
