I just saw this on the top right corner on Gamespot when I was logging in. http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/qna/927749.html?qid=21777

So how do you keep you 360? I have mine horizontal.

Horizontal, and when I am not playing it, I put a towel over to protect from dust

Horizontal. Its much safer that way and Vertical has way to much risk like Scratched up disk, knocking over, etc. Horizontal FTW.

Vertical. Just because I like it better that way. There really is no better way it's just what you prefer. But if there was a problem with a position I would say horizontal is the problem. the DVDs pretty much sit on the reader possilby causing scratching.

I used to go vertical but one time when i swung my leg to get on the couch, i kicked it. Ruined the game, console is fine. Now i always go horizontal.

Horizontal. Less chance to get knocked over, games in the tray are safer, and most importantly, it has a larger ventilation surface - heating it less.

Horizontal, if I even move my 360 to the vertical position, it will mess up the disc drive... :(

I keep mine horizontal. After all the horror stories I've read I don't wanna risk it. However even laying horizontal I have had one game scratched cause my brother got pissed and yanked on my charger cable and put 3 nice rings around my COD: 4 disk :/

Horizontal, have not had any problems yet, other than 1 preventable RRoD from plugging it into a power cord instead of the wall socket. And another RRoD because california is too hot.

I keep mine vertical, more on the interest of space (or lack thereof) where I can put it, than any particular preference. Though, what I am disappointed with is the fact that there isn't a matte black shell for the HD-DVD add-on drive, so it would match the Elite's stock color.

Horizontal, it's supposedly less of a risk for disc-scratching. And my 360's disc drive is shot to crap anyway, being vertical wouldn't help.

Both my 360 and PS3 are horizontal and my Wii is vertical. It just fits perfectly in my setup.

I have mine Vertical at my dorm because there is no room for it to be horizontal. But when I'm at my house or a friends house it's horizontal. I have yet to notice a difference in the Xbox when in both positions.

I normally take any disk recieving device like a CPU. So i'll say, have it where the disk tray is facing normal in this case Horizontal. lol I'll be damned if my Mac's disk tray was vertical.lol

Flamecommando

You should change the position if you're leaving it vertically for heating reasons. General recomendation to leave it horizontally, since the largest ventilation surface is the bottom part (the gray grid is all holed).

I've had mine sitting Vertically since I got it & haven't had a single scratched disc. Sitting in a grated stand so airflow is around entire console regardless of which way it is.

Horizontal but propped up off the table. It now has about 3-4 inches underneath - stays really cool. :)

You do realize you bumped his thread in doing this right?

Who is the guy in your pic and sig that's laughing?? When I first got my 360 i left it vertical until it got the RRoD. Then I put it horizontal to avoid any future problems. I read someones post on one of these vertical vs horizontal threads and he/she said that they used DVD cases or anything of the like to elevate the 360 from it's base at least 6inches. I tried this and it most definitelty helps it to keep it cooler. The difference is definitely noticeable. Needless to say, I will keep my 360 in the horizontal elevated position. :)
