Xbox 360 won't work on 720 resolution? help please

hello.

i have tried to get my xbox to work on 720 and 1080 resolution on my hd tv but it will only work on 480. on the 720 resolution setting i get a picture but it slowly scrolls down the screen. on the 1080 i have the same promblem but it scrolls faster. i am using the standard hd av cable which comes which the xbox switched to hd setting. any help would be greatly recieved.

yer its a 32" technika lcd hdtv which i bought from tesco for about 400 pounds. i think the promblem is because i am using the hd compont cable which come with the xbox and not a hdmi cable but i dont realy have clue to be honest.

No, the component cables should work. First, make sure every cord is plugged in right and make sure to set your 360s display setting to 720p.

yer i have unpluged them and put them back in several times makes no difference i have also changed the settings to 720 and 1080 and still have the same problem

have you changed it to HDTV on the actual cable... there is a button on the cable to change. also make sure you are using the blue/green cables and make sure they are in the blue / green ports. not meaning to try and make you sound stupid im just trying to make sure you have tried everything.

its probably because you bought a useless technika tv then. For 400 pounds you could have got a MUCH better tv.

yeah take the tv back its quite clearly bust ,,, tesco really isnt the best place to buy a tv

Did you make sure the two red cords are in the right spots? One is for audio and the other is for video. The sound ones (white/red) should be bounded separately from the other 3 cords. It's common for people to switch them.

If that checks out fine, it's probably the TV or the cables.

check the red cables, but it sounds like your tv sucks, the xbox wouldnt do that, it either works or it doesnt, it also could be a problem with your component cables.

its not the tv i bought a hdmi cable from tesco last night for 7 quid pluged it striaght in and the xbox changed striaght away to 1080i resolution the difference in the picute it amazing thanks for the help
