It would be great to ignore the hardware problems, but as I write this im putting my 360 in a box to get it fix, so.... ill give it a 8.8/10 in terms of all the consoles of all time. N64 get 10/10 btw ;)

Greatest console ever made. It's really difficult to say but I think I got a good stand point here considering I've been playing games since the TurboGraphics. So, let's see.
#1 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
The simple fact of the matter is that if you liked to see one of the most innovative games release in such a short time period, you'll have to hit the Super Nintendo. This game really innovated the market with games like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Bros and more. For the RPG and Platform era, this was the best of the best. The SNES was also considered one of the better consoles of that time for its better sound system over its competitor, Sega Genisis.
#2 Playstation 2 (PS2)
Thanks to the massive library Sony managed to pick up, the PS2 easily knocked the charts over against its toughest competition, Nintendo. Although the hand-held market was being dominated by Nintendo, the PS2's huge game library of multi-platinum titles made this a console that's still being sold today. From the first console to pick up Guitar Hero to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, that's all Sony.
#3 Nintendo 64 (N64)
Since the creation of Sony, Nintendo had a new competitor. The N64 did not have the greatest graphics to compare against the Playstation, but the N64 has one of the (arguably) best libraries in the histroy of gaming. You can't forget the huge titles of this generation consider the fact that this was the first real introduction of 3D gaming rather than old-school games like Golden Axe or Final Fight. Nintendo picked up tons of titles that are still remembered to this day like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Golden Eye 007. Enough said.
#4 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
For being the first Nintendo product, it was definitely one of the best. Not only didn't it provide innovative titles to begin the RPG phases of games, but the NES was the first console to introduce the motion sensor with Duck Hunt. Nintendo's success of this title also brought huge success with platformers like Mega Man and Mario.
#5 Nintendo Wii (Wii)
With the fan-bases carrying like they did from the previous generation, Nintendo was barely lucky enough to keep the crowd anticipated for the games on the Gamecube. When the Wii successfully launched and sold out for 3 shipments straight, Nintendo was in awe. The Wii definitely shaped the name "Next-Generation" with the Wii by bringing back the motion sensor but with much more leverage than any motion sensor before it. Not only can you do amazing things like bowl in your own house, but it's also the best revolution for exercise for us chubbers here in the gaming community.
#6 Xbox (Xbox)
For being Microsoft's first console, they did a great job. With the first real commercial internet capabiities (Xbox Live) and gaming monsters like Halo 2, the Xbox was the first revolution to the online experience since the Sega Dreamcast. The Xbox Live presented a powerful system that was up-to, if not better than, its competitor the PS2. With the backing of games like Fable, Halo, Splinter Cell and more, the Xbox 360 couldn't have been possible without it.
#7 Xbox 360 (X360)
The Xbox 360 is probably one of the best online gaming consoles to boot in the next-gen era. Considering the fact that it's got one of the most immersive shooter libraries and room for some up-n-coming MMO titles, the Xbox 360 is sure to stay up top in its sales for the rest of the generation. We'll see how it fairs by the end of it, though.
#8 Sega Dreamcast (DC)
Since Sega's success with the Genisis, Sega's jump before the competition really made a difference in the gaming community. Not only did they release a 182bit game system 2 years before the rest of the gaming companies would, Sega was also one of the first successful online experiences with a console with Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2. Although they didn't get enough sales due to the price, Sega will be remembered for pulling out one of the revolutionary titles of a great generation.
#9 Playstation (PS)
Final Fantasy VII. Jumping into 3D gaming, Sony did a terrific job for their first years as an independent company. With games like Oni and Grand Theft Auto, Playstation was a big success. There's a lot of revolution from this system and it was because of this, you now have the PS2 in your home.
#10 Playstation 3 (PS3)
The Xbox communitie's rival (for some unknown reason) is actually a good console. Sony's third installment was one of their dumbest marketing strategies, however. The Playstation 3 not only is the cheapest BlueRay Hardware on the market right now, it's also one of the most powerful systems in the Next-Gen era. The PS3's biggest flaw is the library that's now no long exclusive (except for Little Big Planet or Killzone 2). With major franchises like Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto now helping out the Xbox 360, this has been the toughest year for Sony. Sony's only option now? Copy its opponents (yeah right).
These are the best consoles. I don't include the TurboGraphics for the simple fact that it wasn't really revoltionary over the fact that it was one of the first home consoles. In my opinion, the PC will always remain the best of the consoles but there's always something amazing coming from the console market.
Besides the hardware flaws, the xbox 360 has had the most hits ever released on one system!

Only if I can add the 3 different versions of the 3DO!!! WOOT!!!
but the NES was the first console to introduce the motion sensor with Duck Hunt.
Wicked_Spades
FYI, Duck Hunt did not use motion sensors. The NES Zapper was a light gun using a photodiode in the barrel. No accelerometers involved.
Otherwise, I largely agree with the top three.
Meh. I love my 360, but it's definitely not the best console of all time. I believe the best console of all time has to be the PS2. You can't deny that library of games. No other console comes close. cementface9
